Guys

On my motorhome I would put up antenna and run the auto program and use to get 10-15 channels. I noticed last time I used it that I got 0 channels. I went up top to the antenna and saw the cable had rotted and broke. I replaced the cable. I thought great all is good....I ran the auto program and got 5 channels. I messed around with all the cable connections and could not get anymore. I decided to unplug cable from the tv antenna and run the auto program again. Well I ended up with 14 channels. WTH

Any suggestions on why this is...I get more with the antenna unplugged from the cable then I do with it plugged in.

Thanks

I know @ my house, it literally depends on the weather.

I think it has to do with the new digital programming.  I'm honestly not sure, but I know the whole realm changed since they've gone to that, and the weather makes sense as mentioned above.

sounds like there is a short in that coax from the roof. only good way to find out,  run a jumper cable from the Roof Antenna to the back side of the booster.  See what happens then.  Also with the new Digital you have to tune your antenna unless you have a omni directional. There are phone apps to help you point the antennas.

I tried the jumper idea and got nothing. I reconnected the cable in motorhome and I checked the voltage from the booster to the end of the cable at the antenna and its good. I got 6 channels. Something else is strange is that I get 0 changes on the other 2 tv's. Seams like the signal does not go thru the splitter. I bought a new splitter and that did not help. Supper frustrating being that there is a a lot of cables but they are marked but has not helped me figure it out.

there should be one cable that comes from the Antenna straight into the booster.  Look at the back plate of the booster and it should say Ant. labeled by the correct coax. also make sure power wires are hooked up correctly.  The booster is the splitter..  From the booster you have to check the coax and make sure they are going to the proper TV's.

Yes there is and it goes to the  back of the booster marked antenna. The front of the booster goes to the living room tv and the other 2 on the back one goes to the cable on the outside of coach where you hook up to cable at a site and the third is for the second tv that I have going to a splitter going to the 2nd and 3rd tv. I just ran everything and got 9 channels on living room tv which is not bad. The other tvs I get nothing which is coming from the back of the booster then to a splitter to the2 tvs.

what is really strange is everything worked great and all I did was replace cable from antenna to male to male adapter to cable thru the roof. Now the other tvs dont work.

I have not touched the power wires on the booster. They are tight and not loose connections. The booster light is on.

I would put a new booster in.  I have seen many fail.  Winegard does make a new one with much higher power and a signal meter built in. They are the best over the air boosters.   They run about75 bucks might want to give that a tray. also take out the spliter to see if one of the back tvs works better. one other way to trouble shoot take your TV 2 line and put it on the front of the plate where you are getting 9 channels and see if you get channels on the other TV's.

Will do I will give these a shot and see what happens. I appreciate the info.

Have you changed the antenna head in the last few years?  if not you won't get squat. You need the digital head. It's an easy change out....I get like 200 channels...now if I only spoke Korean.
