Mama and I are looking at retiring in a couple years, and looking at different options for touring the country.

We currently have a 2005 Holiday Rambler 36' gas Ford 2-slide unit, and it is in great shape, but it is also 16 years old. We would like to downsize a bit, and have been looking at Class A 30' and under and some Class C's. The Class C's we have been looking at have been narrowed down to different models on the Sprinter Chassis. Tiffen or Entegra. But the price on them is higher than on a 30' Class A. But, I would like getting 16 mpg in lieu of 8, I gotta be honest here.

Who has any experience with these chassis in any configuration? I have never driven one, and the 188 hp rating kinda negative thrills me. We will probably wait about a year until all these people who bought one out of boredom realize that being back to work makes it so they no longer have time to use this thing that they are paying for every month.

B-I-L had a couple of the MB Sprinters in his fleet of work vans. They didn't last long and have been replaced by both Ford and Chevy's that have way more miles on them before there were replaced. Transmission issues and cost of parts all because of the MB emblem on the front was the main reason.

Also a guy in the AARP crew has one. he loves it so far but he had some issues ( half of which were caused by him   )with the DEF delivery system.  He never keeps any of his RV's so long term  reliability is not his concern.  He just wanted something small easy to drive that will pull his flat bed with the Can Am on it.

Bob ( EZ Riderr ) had one for a short period as well maybe hit him up on the Facebook for his honest opinion.

My neighbor up the street has one converted with a lift for his wheelchair bound son, he said everything he does is expensive.

You are far better off getting a new C class with the Ford V8 on the F550 chassis.  Those Sprinter vans have nothing but problems.

You are probably right that we should skip the sprinter. I wonder how that new furd motor, the 7.3 is working out in coaches. Still want to be a hair under 30'.

From what I have heard the motor is a beast and fuel mileage is better than the V10.   I did talk to a guy camping next to me in Newport over Memorial weekend.  He had a new 32' C Class with the V8.  He was raving about the motor and set up.  His couch was on the F550 chassis and surprisingly had a 7,500lb towing capacity.

Surprising. I have the V10 in our 36' HR, and it has more HP and Torque than the new V8. But it is a loud azz screamer of a motor
