I'd like to say Happy Memorial day, but there is nothing real happy about it. I would like to express my appreciation to all of you who had family members that died serving our country. I've got a few and it gets easy to get busy with life to remember why we have that life.
On Memorial Day the flag should be flown at half-staff from sunrise until noon only, then raised briskly to the top of the staff until sunset, in honor of the nation's battle heroes.
Flew the torpedo bomber TBF Avenger off the USS Enterprise in WW2. He was in Midway, Guadal Canal, Santa Cruz and all the major pacific battles.
Their squadren, Torpedo group 10, lost 2 aircraft (3 men per plane), 6 guys on the first sorte in the Pacific, including the CO. He has a book written about his adventures that I have. Different bread.. Greatest Generation, etc.
