I am here for Day in the Dirt at Glen Helen this weekend and want to head to Glamis Monday. Any recommendations?
Thanks,
Cory

What do you ride?
Assume this is your first time.
Anyone that can go with you?
Plans?? Day trip, camping???

Ktm 300
Yes, first time.
Yes, there will be two of us.
Ride for a day or two.
Are there places to stay in the area? We are in a truck with a small enclosed trailer.
Came from South Florida trying to do as much as we can.
Thanks

Plenty of places to stay. It's open camping. Best to find hard pack a long gecko road. Better riding into the dunes and close to people if you need assistance.
So much info to offer here and it's best to find someone to take you thru the paces of Glamis. You will need a permit to be in glamis. You may also need out of state permits for your bikes. Use permit can be purchased at gas stations in brawley or on site at the ranger station or the Glamis beach store. Few bucks cheaper to buy off site.

Paddle tires would be ideal for you guys but not necessary. It would seriously improve your ride thru the sand.

Vendor flats by the Glamis beach store would provide the most resources for a newcomer. Food more than anything else. You will need a flag for each bike.

Wish you were a week out. I'd be happy to show you the place. Plans to be in glamis the 8th-16th.

If you're looking for accommodations, the Quechan casino South of the dunes on i8 is probably your best bet

Recommend keyhole campground if y ok u can fit in a spot there

I'd be cautious about bike/trailer security off I-8, you're very close to Mexican Border there.
Dune riding is a blast, air down tires, like a whole bunch. Most of all have fun.
Thank you

Get some Firewood / Fuel / some Blankets.....Stay in Glamis at least 1 night - sleep in cargo trailer

You will have a blast......ask people on way in town at gas stations if there pass has any days left on it. A LOT of time you can get the pass for free

Have Fun

Monday will be nice the crowds will be gone and empty no idiots in the dunes.

Washes would be fine during this time as there will be no concerts and easy parking.

As for paddle tire not needed for a quick trip air rear down as much as you can keep momentum going you’ll be fine. I was out last week with cr500 I’m on a knobby had no problem and actually like knobby over paddle.

Wherever you are at for the night, buy an inexpensive cable lock and lock up the bikes, gas cans, ice chests. Anything you can fit the cable through. A 10' cable and inexpensive padlock. I slept well at night knowing it was going to take a lot of noise to get my bike. Even those single use ;) motorbikes you are riding have disappeared. Do you want to camp or hotel it? You need a flag on the bike and a pass per truck/vehicle. You'll need an out of state registration. If you can swing a paddle on one of the bikes, I would highly recommend it. You don't need it but the traction difference is high and to get the full effect which is worth the trouble, a paddle sure puts a big smile on your face. Go easy. Drop offs and kiddy tracks blend in so well that you can launch off one before ever realizing the ground is gone.

Enjoy the Glamis Experience. Peace

if your sleeping in the trailer it gets cold at night. brawley inn is a good place to stay 40 min or so to the dunes

Sidewinder Chevron has the dune and non.resident passes and also flags.

That casino is 15 minutes from the dunes, but not from Glamis....I.d camp at duh dunes.
