I'm flying to Denver next Saturday to buy a Harley and ride it home. Looking on the map I can take Hwy 80 all the way or I can try Hwy 70 to Hwy 50. My buddy said Hwy 50 is called the lonliest Hwy and is a bucket list ride for him.

I don't arrive into Denver until 2:00 pm on Saturday and need to be at work on Monday so this is going to be a quick trip (which kind of sucks) so Saturday will include some night riding. I'm planning to get to Salt Lake City ( Hwy 80 ) or Salina UT ( Hwy 70 ) Sat night. Ride home the rest of the way Sunday.

Has anybody taken the 70/50 route and care to comment ?  I'm not sure about gas stations, etc along the way and a bike can only get about 220 on a tank. I'm open to any suggestions on other routes too. Thanks in advance for any input.

The 50 looks a little desolate, but a cool ride. Carry xtra gas!

Hwy 70 was closed today - got a foot of snow. Check the weather and road conditions before you go.

I wouldn't be to keen on doing I-70 this time of year on a scooter in the dark west from Denver.

Damn deer are coming right down on the shoulder to get the green (mag chloride) grass this time of year.

Be careful..

I was supposed to be riding back today but the damn storm swooped in. I cancelled flight and scheduled for next week. Looks like I made the right choice. lol
Yeah man. Good call. Totally screwed for scooter traveling this weekend. Next weekend looks better.

This is a cool drive...until you get to vegas, then boring.

Not to second guess you but have you done a ride that long recently? That's a hell of a lot of miles to put down on a bike.

Yes, last summer rode to Key West. A couple years before rode to Alaska. Earlier this year flew to Seattle and Boise and rode bikes home. I've been having fun flipping bikes.

I rode my bike (bicycle) across hwy 50. You are really out there alone! It something to see for sure.

That ride from Loveland Pass is EMPTY. Make sure you "manage" the fuel / water situation. Be Careful!

It will be a cool experience for sure!

Which route is that ?  I'm not familiar with it ?

Is there fuel stops along the way ?  Can only get around 220 miles between fill ups.
