My son is looking for a car. Looking to see if any gd peeps have one for sale instead of buying out in the wild west. My daughter bought her Honda accord off gd.com and it has been a great car!!!!

Anyway / shoot me a message if you have an older car for sale in the 5-6k range.

he needs something reliable

Andy

good luck.  There seem to be more what I would call reasonable values in AZ, but San Diego they all seem to be either super high Mileage, they want more money than they seem to be worth or they are sitting on used car lots with questionable histories....

Keep an eye out for a 99-04 jetta jetta wagon or golf  1.9l alh tdi with a manual trans. They pop up in that price range but they go FAST. Flat freeway he’ll get 40-50mpg. Super reliable and cheap to fix. Was a wagon like mine last week popped up for 5500$ almost went and got it to flip. Wagons are the holy grail and dont last but minutes on craigslist

Been rolling my 04 Jetta TDI BEW for since 2012 and now has 220k miles and still solid mid 40’s MPG. Manual trans is extremely easy to drive with the torque of these TDI motors …and I drive a lot in traffic.

If you have a commuter car that Poule does not want, I might be interested.   I've been looking for a while now and the market is tough.
I will let you know once he responds. it a lil rough, but mechanically sound

Kicking myself over this right now.  I had a '00 Civic burner (2dr EX 5spd) I unloaded at the beginning of the year.  Had a sht ton of miles on it, but didtn't leak a drop. 30mpg with the A/C on.  Sold it to a co-worker for $1500..

:crying:   THAT woulda been a nice deal!!!

Most don't know about them, but if you can find a FIAT 500e they are absolute the lowest cost to own car on the road.  Mine just turned 40k miles.  Its all electric and I get about 70-110 miles on a charge if I am not messing with V8 cars (its crazy fast).  I just calculated out what it cost to drive 40k miles and it came out to just under $900 in electrical costs.  I use it to bid jobs so no need for more than the 110 mile range.   I bought it for 6k in 2020.

Its like driving a track car because the weight is all down low.

Has a 24kW battery.  SRP is average $.0841 a KW.  24x.0841 = $2.01 to go 70-110 miles.

HOV plates in AZ and costs $35 to register a year.

I did also just change the cabin filter, but other then that there is ZERO maintenance.  No oil, no engine, no trans, no brakes (It uses regen brakes until like 5mph).

I know its too late... but maybe someone else in need..

I bought my son a 2007 toyota corrolla new for his 16th birthday...  15 years and 235K miles, later he bought his first new car and ready to get rid of the corolla!!   white, with tanish interior, 4 doors.   $5,500.00 obo....  located Huntington Beach/ Irvine.  Pink in hand.  Perfect starter car or commuter car! Text me 213 272 7248 if ya have questions.. (asked him to send me pics), will forward once i get em.

The Good:

1) one owner

2) non smoker

3) AC works incredible!!

4) AUTO

5) Roll up windows... he asked what they were when we bought, never seen roll up windows in his life!! LOL

6) always maintained, oil, etc.. all original motor trans etc... never an issue!

7) 38+ MPG

The Bad:

1) Paint is faded, no shine at all! its all original, but dull.
