I've got three battery chargers here and they all won't charge a new battery that went too low. My old Sears DieHard just took a chit. That was the only one that would bring the batteries up to a sufficient amount so I could switch over to the smart charger's that I have.

Do they make them anymore? Any recommendations? I don't understand why they would make battery chargers that won't charge if they don't sense at least two amps.. I mean I get the safety aspect of it but, for effs sakes.

I got one you can borrow if you want.

I'm normally home by 330 but can leave it out if you want to swing by.

RC battery chargers have tricks.  I've resurrected lipos by setting to nicd at .1amp.

Also bumped a dead 20v DeWalt by connecting to a live 20v with 2 wires.

Look on eBay just bought 1970 10 amp Sears charger for $22

On /off. works awesome
Yeah, I just looked and found a new old stock die hard battery charger.. I think I'm going to buy it.

I'm really bummed on my other one though, it had all the benefits of modern chargers (computer controlled) but it also didn't take a minimum voltage.. I think I bought it around 1999-2000.

Thanks for all the replies.

Jump start the charger...use a portable boost / jump starter while the charger is connected and On....the charger needs to see voltage to trick the circuitry to begin charging.

Or buy a charger that has a Force option built in.

Hook it up to another battery that is good then connect a charger to it (connect batteries with jumper, then put charger on). Fools these chargers that have a minimum voltage requirement
I've had to do this a couple times.  I just used jumper cables between the dead one and the good one.  Once it starts, you can remove the cables and good battery.

As said above: any "smart" charger is dumb if you have another battery.  Hell, if you're trying to revive a small battery and have a super large battery, you don't even need to plug into the charger, they'll level off at 11-12v and you can use whatever other method to complete the charge.

I hate smart chargers...................I went thru what you are a couple of years ago, ebay was my friend and picked up an old one cheap, works perfect.

So I had bought that new old stock charger (open box) and then I ran across the one that broke on me... so now I have two... 🤪🤪

If anybody needs to borrow a charger you know where to find one. Haha..

Yeah mine has the repair mode. But again, it won't sense the battery when it's dead. That's why I was so frustrated
The force mode will put out a charge, hopefully enough to get it to work in the repair mode....
