Kennedy was shot by a mentally disturbed, twice court-martialed Marine who defected to the Soviet Union who then found out it was not to his liking. Regan was shot by a mentally disturbed man who was trying to impress Jodie Foster who also had stalked Jimmy Carter when he was President. Trump was shot at by a mentally disturbed registered Republican and the only reason he is still with us is because the would be assassin was a bad shot. With the exception of Lincoln, who was shot by a Confederate sympathizer (more or less what we could call a conservative Southernor today), I'm not sure standing up to Democrats had much to do with any of it.
