My old impact gun finally took a crap after 6 years. What are the best options out there that everyone likes?

There ar soo many options today. I would stick with the brand of battery you have then narrow down to what torque you need. remember you might need some power to get off a stubborn nut but dont need too much to install lug nuts as they should be final torqued.

I really like my 3/8" stubby 12v Milwaukee, small lightweight and powerful

So many options these days. Stubby 3/8” to get everywhere. 1200 ft-lb 1/2” monsters to break remove anything. Impact drivers. Impact ratchets.

What’re you doing with it?

I have this one. Knock off lug nuts on smaller cars.

I have a Milwaukee 1/2" 18V. I was able to get it new online for $130 minus the battery. I already have a full set of Milwaukee 18V tools so no biggie.

The thing is a beast but man does it get the job done.

If you're just using it for desert, I'd look at Harbor Freight's "Bauer" brand. $159 for a 1/2" impact with battery. Plus...sign up and get a coupon.

Get the gen 2 Milwaukee 3/8 or 1/2” stubby 12V and don’t look back. 550 ft lbs of torque old model was 220

I've had the Harbor Freight Hercules 12v cordless impact and drill for 5 years and they've been flawless. I have the cheaper HF Bauer stuff in my trailer for Glamis.
I'm fortunate that Harbor Freight sends me free stuff to 'test' and post on IG. They gave me two of the 20v Hercules brushless 1/2" impacts and we use them for tire changes. The impacts are great and we use them a lot. If you've seen my IG you know how many trailer flats we get.

This is what I have also, She is a Beast !

I am working my way to the milwaukee plus home depot is everywhere.

I had DeWalt nicad stuff that lasted 20+ years and for its era was great stuff and I held out on transitioning into lithium ion as long as I could. Stuck with DeWalt when I did and it's garbage. I wish I would have gone to Milwaukee. I've got a few Milwaukee tools now and they are so much better than the new DeWalt stuff.

there are tons of different battery adapter for the old dewalt tools. I have a whole set of old Dewalt 12v tools from work when they went to Milwaukee they tossed the old dewalt in trash and i rescued it. I use the milwaukee 18v to Dewalt 12v adapter in mine.

Just make the move. I forgot to mention, Milwaukee has the easiest warranty to work with. No receipt needed. I’ve bought about half on OfferUp and have warranted about a dozen batteries and a soldering iron. (Between my shop and personal I have quiet the collection) they go off the birthdate if you don’t have a receipt

Just make sure they are true Milwaukee batteries. The clones are out there, and they look surprisingly similar. Both guys bought off online what were supposed to be factory batteries but when they compared them to one another they were not the same, yet both had the same stickers. They were going to go to a Home Depot to see who got taken and who got OEM.

When I had to re-buy due to theft my Milwaukee setup, I went with three of the bigger replicas for the price of one. Well, they didn't last very long at all and I had to replace them sooner than I wanted.
