My office is a few blocks away, I saw the huge smoke cloud early at 6am.

Did not know it was the hanger, they were supposed to repair the Goodyear Blimp there in a month.

Sucks man, cool structure and history.

that sucks.  I remember driving by there & seeing a number of blimps.

Drove down the 55 frwy around 11am that day and it was still smoking. Smelled horrible. Today they closed nearby schools and told residents to stay indoors due to positive asbestos tests for the ash in the area.

Am I the only one who doesn't know what this is?

Guess my love for blimps and blimp history is needing a boost.

I believe it's where Chevrolet unveiled the C8.

CAL Club used to hold Road Races there outside in the 60's.  I also went to a ultralight rubber band airplane competitions inside.  I'm sure they did a ton of other things inside.

Think remember reading somewhere it was so big it would rain inside.
