Well here we are again when Cox raises the monthly bill after the "Special Discounts" expire. So before I call them again and play the "I am dropping you, what can you do for me" I figured I would see what everyone else is using. I would like to have a place to go in my back pocket so I really could tell them I am out.

We are in El Cajon and looking around I am not sure I have much more choice then Cox or AT&T. Hoping someone can show me other options out here. I even looked at Starlink, but that is pricey to plus the upfront cost of the equipment.

Current bill is $130 for 500Mbps with 1.25 TB of data (using on avg about 1.2-1.3TB a month) and renting their modem for ($5/month)

Bill is going up to $175 for the same service.

I've had Spectrum WiFi at home for the last 5+ years. Started at $61.99/month ammnd is now $91.99/month. None of our Verizon phones work well at home (dead spots) but my TVs and old iPad are fine.

Verizon happened to call last week and offered me a business plan for $51.99/month locked in for 10 years, no contract, free router and a 30 day trial. I signed up for it, and it's been a few days. Zero complaints. Canceling Spectrum tomorrow.

Starlink? It looks like it might be cheaper than what you are paying.

I have Verizon and no complaints and cheap.

We use Starlink beats Spectrum hands down only glitch we have is I think it changes satellites in the middle of the night for a few seconds and our alarm system goes to cellular backup, but other than that no issues and it costs less than our Spectrum service did.

Used to be verizon here, now Frontier fiber. I tossed spectrum in the garbage after multiple outages while I was in school zoom meetings during covid. Frontier has been solid.

we had Cox for a while & just got tired of the bills.  we have ATT now & while its OK, its still DSL & when it gets busy (evenings) it slows down).  we dont have a lot of devices, but they are all streaming @ the same time.

I’m thinking of trying starlink mini for my business then I can take it with me the the dunes

read reviews of the mini, its has a smaller dish which means its finiky for reception and has a hard time with trees, mountains or any obstructions in the skyline. Also it has a built in router that is not the fastest speeds.

It's also lowest on bandwidth priority in your area.  Borrowed a friend's setup since we were thinking of doing exactly this and it suuuuucked out loud in the evenings.

The standard home (non-Roam) setup is excellent, however.  Thinking of switching for the same reasons as @D-n-Tyke

We have Spectrum 1,000 mbps via cable and they suck, outages happen often.

Frontier has 5000 mbps Fiber but not on my street....azzklowns.

"Fixed Wireless" Internet Air via Mobile 5G Networks will be great at some point, but right now the focus is for Business.

Western Broadband, Have had it for years and still $60.00,,,Ramona Ca

Starlink is the choice of the BLM in northwest US for fire fighting comms besides the other dedicated military Sat Comms.

Starlink will be the king of the block in 5 years, in speed and access.

We had Cox for 20 years and just dumped it once we started getting notices 2 weeks into the month that we've used all of our monthly data. Switched to Verizon and are happy with it so far.
