2003 Rampage.  Shared tank for generator.

Fuel station seems to work "mostly".  No difference in generator on or off.  Seems to ALWAYS work at home.  At Glamis it's always worked first time but then won't run the 2nd time.  3 summer trips this year.

I now have a hypothesis that if I make sure to empty hose with pump off, it will be OK.  Otherwise it was causing a hydrolock type situation?

Ideas?

What's your symptom, pump running but no fuel flow? or no pump movement at all?

I've got 8 or 10 of those little 12 volt pumps. Some are gear pumps and some are vane pumps. The switches go bad a lot because they carry too much load. I usually wire in a relay to carry the load. I've never had a gear pump swell the gears up but I mostly pump diesel so maybe it doesn't penetrate the gears like gasoline.

Agree with above. My issue has always been the switches and wiring so you have to break apart the pump and replace the switch. Pretty easy, depending on the fuel pump.
