Hello,

I have a Desert Dynamic Sandcar. I've had to remove the engine/trans 2 times since I've bough the car to have the transaxle worked on. Because of how the engine cage is designed behind the engine, I have to lift the engine /trans very high to get it out of the car. I am considering putting in interlocking tube connectors next time I pull the engine out. I was thinking of putting them where the yellow circles are on the below picture. Would this compromise the integrity of the chassis? Would I be better off putting it somewhere else?

Thanks!

If you really want them, this would be the place to put them in my opinion. No "dead" tubing in this space, and additional cross and lateral bracing tubing is located ajacent just below. DD chassis cars are "tanks" in my opinion, so go for it. Maybe some additional engineering opinions may vary?

My Funco cage attaches at that same point. Not interlocking, just a machined threaded insert into one side and a plate with a hole in the outer to screw in the 1/2" bolt. I would assume the interlocking clamp would hold up just fine in that area.

I do not see any reason to not add these. With the entirety of the back of that car welded together you would likely be able to eliminate this tube all together and still net the same rigidity. A lot of the DD cars i have run into have had the uglier flange version of this done without any issues.
