Looking for something in the 10" range, detachable keyboard would be nice.  Android based.

Not exactly what you are looking for but I just bought a 15" touchscreen laptop from Best Buy. $450 was a lot cheaper than other stuff I was seeing. You might check them out.  Might have been a little bit older model but it is way fast for me. Damn, Just looked and the same computer is now $570. AMD processor, 8GB ram, 256 GB SSD.

Chromebook...about 190 at Walmart.

My last one lasted 6 years or so.  I coulda used it longer, but the battery went and it would only worked plugged in.

That is what our school dist issues to the kids...durable.
