With all the recent thievery, I'm looking to put some trackers on the vehicles, toys, and equipment.

I'm looking for something inexpensive (under $200 per unit), hopefully without a monthly subscription and has a battery that lasts 2 years or more.

What is better air tags or GPS tracker (I don't have any Apple products) ?

Can other people find/discover your stuff by locating the air tags?

How well do air tags work in the middle of the desert or middle of no where?

What this does for you that a simple AirTag does not? I'm also looking at options for tracking certain toys.
air tag has to ping with a bluetooth source. if someone steals your stuff, how far can they get before a bluetooth hit happens? gps is direct all the time, you know exactly where its at, no waiting.
PS at my storage a lady called last week, asking about a food trailer we are storing. tenant is behind 3 months and tenant doesn't know it has a gps tracker. she has a contract for sale and at 3 months behind she gets it. I told her hell the lady owes me a months rent already, so bring me the paperwork and take it! lol. I don't know what happened to it, one day it was there, one day it was gone lol.

its runs off cellular and pings every 60 seconds when moving every 12hrs when stationary doesn't need wifi or bluetooth. also nice after a dune ride i can see my track from the app. i was just looking at their units i have the titan LTE in the toys and a solar model on the trailers that i didn't see the solar listed on their site. if you plan on going with something like this see if they have the solar units they do work really good the also have a vibration senor in them so if someone tries to break in you will get alert. if their is a heavy rain it also sets off the sensor

Airtags are no good. Bluetooth has a very short range 30-100ft max AND it won't ping off of just anyone's phone. The phones near by have to have that feature turned on. My phone that feature is specifically turned off, cuz I don't use airtags and don't want big tech stealing all my data as I walk around for their advertisers. Ever wonder why you get specific ads from stores the minute your in the store, airtag technology?
