I got scammed and my desert season is over before it started.

I'm really embarrassed to write this but Eff it, I'm manning up and letting you guys know what happen...so it doesn't happen to you!

I'm not a baller I don't make alot of money so I always look into buying used stuff..

MY original post..



I get a message from zzoldtown saying that a guy has some tires for sale and contact him thru email...all good from this point. He had a couple of post so I wasnt worried about it..

Was emailing his buddy and he sent pics and the tires were almost near perfect. Looking back now they were too perfect for that price.. We had alot of emails back and forth and finally settled on a price 425 plus 75 shipping..He knew I was goin through a divorce and played on that saying God will get you through this blah blah...I sent him the cash(read my post) and then he disappeared from the chat..

I got scammed, xmas/ny time is a crazy time for me and I had so many things goin on that I really didn't look into it to deeply..stupid of my part looking back now..

My season is ruined before I started cause now I do not have money for any used paddle tires and it's not looking promising with any time soon..2months of season left

Sorry for the rant I just needed to get this out of my head cause I need to move on from this...this has really mess with me and I almost relapsed into drinking again(sober 2 years)

The offroad community has always been awesome, I've been going to glamis since 99' and everybody that I've ever dealt with has been really good people, that's probably a reason I trusted this guy..

For now on only buying local. 

KARMA WILL GET HIM!!! 

 
Thanks for the heads up, I too would trust a GD.com member versus other people.  This could have happened to anyone, sorry it happened at all.  Karma will get them, it always does.

that sucks  ... sorry   I have been scammed on LS1-tech, never ever think it would happen on GD 

 
WTB ads are always scammola magnets and any message saying to "email this guy" is pretty much Nigerian Prince territory.

I don't post alot on here, I lurk alot cause I'm not the tech savvy at all but GD has taught me alot of useful information throughout the years.

Let me ask you guys will this work for my setup?

I have a su prolite 4 seater with a 13b turbo and a 2d at around 485hp. The reason I'm asking is I was in contact(text and phone call) with a nice gentleman from lakeside GD member about purchasing his paddle tires(blaster 33)(I shoulda just grabbed his but some decent chunks were missing from the middle of the paddle) and I threw out to him about buying the padla from another guy(craigslist) but he insisted that it wouldn't be a good fit for my rail, and I would likely have tranny issues down the line..

Any advice? I'm listening ty.

And yes looking back I was stupid, I shoulda just went local. My bad to the guy I was talking to and didn't buy them from him.

The blaster 33 is a better fit for your car. They are actually bigger than the Padla tracks so the tranny issues makes no sense. I think you will have a lot more bite with the blaster tires.

When were you planning on going out?

If we can make it work I'll loan you my set of 33 15's, they are the #2 paddle and on bead locks

I run an LS2/2d combo. They do leak but I intend to do some clean up on them soon.

I hate seeing people get scammed! Willing to help out if I can.

Kind of sad, always trusted members here. I will continue to do so but will add layer of caution for those who don't frequent the site.

Me too, that's why I commented they way I did. I recall many years back as a fairly new member, picking up an ATC 70 for Danno from Wild Bill's house. The caveat was that Bill was in Japan working... he trusted me as a member(had never met before this) with access to his garage door and alarm codes. This is what this site was about, helping other members, not burning them.
