Honda ECU, susposed to be a stock engine.

Viewling from back of car, the left bank of cylinders are basically not firing. The exhaust manifold never gets hot, luke warm at best. I can only tell that cause it's 30 degrees in the shop and the manifold is getting above ambient. Right bank appears to be fine.

Engine has not not run in at least a couple of years.

No codes available at this time, code reader due on Friday.

Any ideas for things I can check in the meantime?

is there a cross over tube for the injector rails that might not be getting fuel to that side of the engine?

is there a coil pack like the LS that is Left & Right? (Ground wire on the coil pack?).

Bob

There is a cross over hose between the fuel rails, I haven't touched it yet, have to take the intake manifold apart to get to it.

(Acutually would like to find fuel rails for this that can be built so the fuel circulates through the rails then the pressure regulator, regulates fuel return and pressure.)

Each cylinder has it's own coil.

you can buy an infrared reader and it will tell you which (or all 3) are not firing.  My first guess would be stuck/gummed up injectors.  My 3.5 did that after sitting for awhile (it did have RC injectors though).  Get used to taking that intake manifold off..........If you pull the plug wires, is there oil on the plugs?  The valve cover seals for the tubes tend to leak and fill the area around the plug with oil.  The individual coils can go bad, but improbable if one bank is not firing.

Purely anecdotal evidence here but I remember when I first installed a J35 salvage motor in my car with an ECU and harness from @Kraut_n_Rice and started it up it really sounded "lacking" and was slow to rev. The motor had probably been on a stand for 10+ years before being installed. I remember the same thing where the exhaust manifold on one side was not getting hot. Being a salvage motor I was concerned there might be a problem. Days later I pulled the car out of the garage to let the engine heat up to check the cooling system and fans. At some point while it was running I remember the sound of the engine and exhaust suddenly changing and lowering and the idle RPMs also decreasing. I went over and pushed the throttle and the engine revved quickly and was very responsive. Both exhaust manifolds now heat up and it runs great. Just my experience.

If the entire bank is dead, probably the common hot/ground wire for the bank of coil packs and/or injectors.
This...

Or a varmint chewed the wires or something. I'd go over the wires real well and make sure you're getting a signal to the coils.

Might pull injectors and use a small punch and work the needle in them. They will get stuck when they sit for awhile.

The coils will have 3 wires.  A power (black/yellow), a ground (black) and a signal (varies).  Check the power and ground on them with the key on.  Kinda the same goes for the injectors.  Power wire is yellow/black...yes opposite... and the "ground" wire varies.

My bet is clogged injectors.

Thanks for all the replys, I will get at the injectors next week.
