Seeing Poules thread re the washing machine and the comments on Speed Queen as the washers of choice.

What's the brand to buy today for kitchen appliances?

Wasn't impressed with the quality of Samsung that I put in my mom's place in 2017.  Was nice at first but 5 years later not great.  I expect a fridge to last 15 years. Dishwasher, ovens, ranges etc?????

What's the brand today. Planning a kitchen and would prefer all the branding the same.

Thx.

We recently went with all LG.  Our fridge took a chit just before Memorial day.  Fortunately, Home Depot was having a sale on kitchen packages.  But, the fridge we wanted wasn't available until the end of June.  So, we just got it all last week.  I still have to install the microwave.  Maybe next weekend...  New appliances were going to be in the works soon anyhow, so it wasn't a heartbreaker.  The kitchen is on the list for remodel this year too.  Just finished the master bed/bath, then working our way through the rest of the house.

I had all Samsung prior to that.  Everything but the dishwasher kinda lasted almost 15 years.  The ice maker in the fridge took a dump a couple years ago, but at $300 to fix it, I just got a $50 countertop ice maker.  The oven needed an ignitor for the bake function a while back too.  All in all, I got my money's worth.

Just switch to Speed Queen for laundry.  We like it so far.

For kitchen...pro...Wolf, Viking.

Average...GE, Whirlpool, Jennair.  I would stay away from LG and Samsung.  They look nice, but they aren't lasting like they should.  Ifiwasgoingfor something like that...Samsung.

Bosch for a dishwasher. GE, GE Profile, or kenmore elite for the other appliances. Bosch just makes a great dishwasher, way above other brands. I don't like the Korean brands for kitchen appliances but I loved my LG front loaders. It seems that all of the brands have taken a dive in reliability and prices have just gotten stupid high.

I was told by a local/small family owned appliance shop owner that refrigerators are no longer made to last more than 5 to 7 years. He said the same about washers and dryers and that if you want one to last, buy a speed queen, they are the only brand still made with steel parts instead of plastic.

When you have time one day stop by save more appliances in Santa Ana. He has high end appliances at 20-50% off. I have installed them in multi million dollar homes.

This  kitchen I did had about $27,000 in appliances. They sure do add up quick.

Our last house we remodeled the Kitchen with all GE Monogram and we’re happy with them…no complaints but we had only used them for 5 years then sold.
New house is all Viking and they are 18 years old and happy with them. The fridge isn’t as large cu.ft. wise but we have a fridge in the garage.

In our first house @1986 we bought all GE top line appliances, and the refer, washer, and dryer all died within 7 years. They are off my list.

We bought a WOLF Range / Thermador Refrigerator Freezer. Kitchen Aide Microwave.  Have not installed the product yet. Hope it's a great product. The total cost says it is. Peace

Just finished building a new showroom for a high end appliance store.  You would not believe how much you can spend on this stuff.

I also just replaced all of my appliances, but did not go to the place I just finished. I not only couldn't justify spending that much I also didn't have that much.

I went with GE for everything but the fridge, the fridge we had to go with LG because it was the only one that we could find that would fit into our space.  Hell even if it only lasts 5-7 years over 20+ like my last stuff did I will be money a head over what that high end stuff costs.

Baller! But alas, it does go with that B E A Utiful new place :classic_love:

Heck of a rabbit hole y'all sent me down. :lmao:

I seem to be trending to Viking.  Seems like a middle ground between the home depot/Lowe's and the real high end.

Good luck with those. Last year we just did our kitchen and were between Bosch, Thermador and blue star. We chose Bosch because of the coffee machine. We got the 800 series, fridge, oven, speed oven, coffee machine and dishwahser. We have had the tech our 6 times in the last 6 months (for the oven only) and the ice maker still doesn't work. The tech will only look at one issue per visit.

Find commercial grade appliances that have enough "design" to them that will suit your needs / looks.

Ignore most of the electronic "Bells and Whistles" on most appliances, those sleeker looking "high end" stuff often has way to much electronics in them for my tastes and craps out in 5 years.

Our Speed Queen Washer and Dryer have a 7 year warranty, I'm pretty sure I'll get 15 years or more out of both, they are rock solid.
