I’ve been golfing off and on for 25years or so but today it finally happened. I was playing in a 2 man best ball tournament and on the 12th hole (par 3, 120 yrd) I made my first hole in one!  3 friends in my group and the 4-some ahead of us saw it too. I’ve been very very close hundreds of times to an ace but to finally do it was an awesome experience.

I shot an individual score of 81 for the round and my 2 man team score was 75.

No video of the shot, only after. A friend who is decent with editing made me a funny video.

I golfed for over 38 yrs and never made a hole in one. But my wife golfed for a couple years and made an ace her second year of golfing. It was a beautiful draw on a 130yd hole. She had no idea what she just did until the group behind us went crazy and ran to our tee and were high fiving her. Cost me a ton in the 19th hole but was worth every penny.

Congrats, many of us never make a hole in one!

That is awesome!

I have never made one either, have come close but nope.

Although, I did have a pretty cool shot one night golfing a local par 3.

Years ago when I used to golf, if I was bored I would head over to a Par 3 course in South Pasadena and usually just play by myself as it was usually not crowded and practice the short game.

Well I was on the 1st tee and these 3 guys asked if I wanted to join them...I said sure.

Got to the 2nd or 3rd hole which was about 130 yds, maybe less...Well, I TOTALLY  CHUNKED the shot and it probably went 50-60 yds. :simrak:

These guys were like...Oh brother and snickering. I looked at one and calmly said, it's no biggy I'll just hole it from here!   :dbart:

All eyes on me...set, swing............plunk, right in the hole!

:lmao:

The guys were like...Seriously WTF??? You need to go buy a Lottery ticket...NO WAY!!!

Inside, I was like I can't believe what just happened, but kept my cool and calmly walked up and picked up my ball out of the hole...."Birdie!"

:laugh1:

Congrats man !  I have holed out twice for eagle on par 4s a couple of times, but have yet to get one.  Missed one by exactly one inch at the 12th at Los Verdes . . .

Seeing as how I am way out of the golf scene...every time I see people putting, no one pulls the pin??

Is that the new rule?

Used to be a penalty if you didn't.

:dunno:

I need to get back into the game.

The most frustrating game that you LOVE!   :lmao:

"What an incredible Cinderella story! This unknown, comes out of nowhere, to lead the pack at Augusta.  IT's in the hole, it's in the hole !

Good question, I was wondering the same.

Changes brought in the by Royal and Ancient and the USGA, golf's two ruling bodies, amended the rules for 2019.

The bodies decided on the alteration because they believe "allowing a player to putt with the flagstick in the hole without fear of penalty should generally help speed up play".

Before, if a player hit the flagstick with a putt, then they would have been hit with a penalty.

I have been golfing for 35 years, I still suck and have never had a hole in one, at least on a golf course  :classic_biggrin:

Congratulations, those are very hard to come by. Well done.🏌🏾‍♂️🏌🏾‍♂️

Holed out two so far, 1st PW @ 89 yards, 2nd 7W @ 159 yards.

The not pulling the flag, IMO, started off when Covid broke.  Golf was about the only thing you could do maskless.  People didn't pull it for sanitary reasons.

As stated a few posts up, the R & A codified it in 2019, well before the pandemic. . ..

Like I said, it was just my opinion.  As for the rules change, USGA rulings at the local muni courses....yeah, sure.

I picked up golf in high school for a spring sport, played football in fall then wrestling for winter. Got a hole in one at Bonita golf course(south east San Diego) at the time it was the second hole par 3, this was within 6 months of starting. I made the team due to no one else trued out . My greatest achievement while in high school was playing against Alex Smith eventually the quarterbacks for the 49ers. He was on the opposing high school team and par most the course while I tripled bogey most. My clubs got stolen after that season and I retired.
