Hmmmmmm 🤔

interesting concept but seems like alot of small moving parts. And we all know how dealers are way over their heads already with simple repairs.

Well keep in mind...

The auto trans in all of your street vehicles, is based on planetary mechanics.

I have 160k mi and 20 plus years of mostly towing at max capacity on my truck trans.

I've never seen the inside of a newer 10 speed auto trans, but everything has to be pretty well downsized, to get 10 gear selections, plus reverse stuffed in there! Lol

Lots of potential here. 👍🏼

my comment was directed to the Powersports industry. Completely untrained and poorly supported by the manufacturer.

I like some of that dudes videos; does a good job of barney style demonstration. I always looked at CVTs as shit but the one in the RZR (my only hands on experience with one) has been pretty incredible. Always being on power has been awesome.

What I have been told is that the belt does a good job of protecting the drive train from "shock" damage.

Like when the wheel loose traction, and then suddenly find it again, "bam"!

This makes sense to me, but...

I'd never want a rubber band car. That's just me.

Uh, 2008 (or whatever) Toyota wants its idea back that it's been making zillions of and licensed to Ford.

Granted, it doesn't really work (that I'm aware of) without an electric motor, but there's no belts and very few parts in these CVTs. They're also crazy reliable.

They're actually pretty simple. They use only 4 planetaries and use clutches to combine them to make 10 ratios, like a 10 speed Schwinn.

I have heard this comment from some new Canam DCT owners. Now the cars lug around and you have to drive differently opposed to the CVT cars.
I think too many people believe they're Mario Andretti and can out perform the computer. The magic of a DCT is a killer tune with the lightning fast shifts.

Poor babies. :ROFLMAO:

Half the fun is figuring out what gear you should be in. Planning ahead, and getting it perfect.

Or not. Lol
