we are going to be in AZ this weekend & would like to do scouting around & would like to get in a little hiking.  nothing crazy, just 3 to 8 mile, easy to moderate, dirt trails.  the areas we will be in are listed below.  we will be driving all over all of those places, so if there is something worthwhile to do "near" one of those locations, please feel free to jot those down as well.  essentially we will be in each of those areas for a day each.

we will be in:

Show Low

Flagstaff

Cottonwood

Sedona

Prescott

Payson

we will be in:

Show Low- Stop in Forest Lakes (Between Payson and Heber-Overgard) and hike down to Chevlon Lake, That would be a all day adventure but worth the scenery. It is probally close to the distance your talking if you can get in close enough to park.

Flagstaff- Lots of area's there just not sure what is open after the burn

Cottonwood- Between there and Jerome is Agizit Tuntanni or some weird indian thing.  It is not that long but is cool to check out.

Sedona- Way to many to list. Lots of places in town to get trail information though

Prescott-  Thumb Butte is the only one up that way I can think of

Payson- Lots of good ones.  The natural bridge is cool, can't remember how long the hike is.  The Hike down to the incomplete Rail Tunnel isn't to long but if you park far enough back from the trail head it is ok.  Tunnel isn't much but to sit and try to envision what the plan was in inspiring.

Walnut Canyon should be your go to in Flag

Cottonwood - Drive up to Mingus Mountain, check out Jerome either on your way up or after Woodchute trail for lunch, not sure if the best burger is still in the old haunted hotel but that might be a nice stop.

MWB is right about Sedona too much to list but a place with not terrible traffic (its like La Jolla but worst) I would suggest Fay Canyon

Payson - Water Wheel falls, hike through the East Verde "river", it used to be real nice, I haven't been in 20 years though

Prescott - Willow Dells Slickrock trail loop is pretty cool, might be a bit warm, like Sedona will be this time of year

I don't know chit about ShowLow always seemed like a boring and flat place to me unless you wanted to golf or catch stocked fish
