Does anyone have a hepa filter for their house?  My Dr recommended it for my sinuses.   He suggested one for my bedroom, but what about the living room, where I spend most of the time in the house? And I'm not opposed to 2 of them.  I'm not dragging the damm thing up and down stairs.

We do not have central air, but we do have central heat we turn on a few times a year.  No more that 14 to 21 days a year.

Thanks

Bob

Have you seen the box fan, DIY with the 3m filters....not super cheap, but supposed to do a damn good job....Every little bit helps...

They move a lot of air... I bought one off ebay....It's a Coway  and is like a 15" filter.. works good in the bedroom WAY less dust...

Look up the “air doctor”, sign up for email list I think they mark them down from 600 or whatever down to 350 or so fairly regularly

My sister has a large filter in the living room and small ones in her office and bedroom. Says she hasn't taken an allergy pill sense the day she turned them on. Let me see if I can find the name of them.

Just find one you like and stick it in yore bedroom, despite what you think....that is where you spend the most hours each day.

Unless you seal up the living room, air & dust are going to be constantly moving thru those areas regardless of a system.

When our son was born, being that we live in AZ and on a farm we wanted to filter out more of the dust in the house.  We went with the blue air filters, 1 in the living room and 1 in our bedroom. They work great

Do Your homework, as many filters are "Rated" but may not provide the "Rating".

That Being Said, Anything Is Better Than Nothing.

WTF Is HEPA?

Stick with a separate unit(s) for HEPA. Every HVAC guy I have had, both back east and here in AZ, has warned against super-duper HEPA filters on HVAC, as they cause too much restriction.

I have one in the bedroom that runs 24 hours a day on med. and one in the living room we just use once in a while. I bought both of them at Costco years ago. They have a dust filter that I clean ever week or so. I had one before these two that I ran non stop for years in the bed room until it died. If you don't turn them off they last for years. DON~~~

Here's my story - maybe it's similar to yours

For the last several years I'd sneeze almost every morning, or in the middle of the night if I had to wake up to pee,..Sucks as it then results in me needing to clear my nose for 15 minutes, wakes my wife up, hard for me to fall back asleep etc. In the mornings I'd feel like I had allergy issues, but after a few hours I'm back to normal,...Taking medications would sometimes help - but side effects (dry mouth, feeling dehydrated) sucked - plus I hate taking drugs if I don't need to. My wife insisted I get an allergy test as we have horses, dogs, etc - figured maybe it's the hay, pet dander, who knows.  Long story short - the Dr ended up telling me I was allergic to dust mites,..We purchased dust might covers for the beds, pillow covers, etc - NONE of it worked.

About 6 months ago Costco had a sale on the below (they might still be in stock?) - this has helped me a ton...i sneeze in the middle of the night light once a month now (have it in our bedroom). The white noise is perfect - and the app that it used is nice...have my phone next to me every night when i go to bed anyway - i just roll over and turn it on. Life is much better for me now.
