I ran the HF 5k on my flatbed for years and it was trouble free. Upgraded to the 9500 and 12k on my newer trailers and they work great.

I've had a bunch of these badland winches. I've busted a few of them but only because they were severely abused. Put one on a service crane and it was a big improvement over the original. The solenoids were a little problematic but have gotten better. Picked up a $600 Apex with synthetic rope this morning for less than $400 with tax. I haven't had an Apex or synthetic rope yet but excited to try it out. I wouldn't have known about the 40% off deal without this thread so thanks for posting

Right on. Glad to get the info out. My store showed the apex 5500lb long drum w/ synthetic line that I wanted as in stock so I dropped in after work and sure enough, it was there and I bought it for $169 OTD. MSRP was $259. Doesn't look like many people were buying winches as they still had some badland models on the shelf. This will go on a future flatbed tilt trailer.
