My son wanted an RC truck so I bought him some cheapo wal mart one and bought a Arrma Granite 4wd for me to smash around. Long story he ended up driving the Granite pretty damn good for a 7yo so i picked up a Traxxas Sledge 6s today. Also have a Losi DB-XLE that has been in the garage for several years. I need to get some fresh batteries for the Losi. I forgot how fun these are. Great camp entertainment.

6s for a 7 year old lol? Cant argue with the fun factor, I love me some RC but I don't have a single item anymore.

I got a Sledge for Christmas 2 years ago. Total tank. I've yet to break anything on it.
Pretty stoked on the Sledge. It definitely ripps! I went to the shop to grab to get a Kraton 6s bit the Sledge was on sale for $600. Dude at the shop said it was a way better truck for the money since it was on sale.

The 6s is for Dad. He's driving the Arrma Granite that is 3S. His still does up to 50mph. I told him to go slow but that lasted a whole 60 seconds. But after watching him drive it hard I told him to let it rip.

Just turn the throttle down for the little guy if it gets too squirrelly.
I wanna try a set of standard truggy wheels and tires on the Sledge. The factory tires weigh a ton!
I actually just pulled mine out yesterday since the move. I figured it might be fun on some icy roads.
If inhabitants any complaints, is that's a tiny bit too short. Wheelies up a bit more than I like.

I bought a traxxas XRT 2 years ago…. It’s an 8s that’ll do 60mph and weighs almost 30 lbs….. it’s a beast!! It’s a far cry from the RC10 I started with in the 80’s. It’s crazy what these brushless motors will do! Here’s a photo next to my sons 1/10 traxxas slash

I still have my nitro rc10 GT but it was cheaper and easier to just buy the Granite. And the Granite is way more fit for bashing

I was big into r/c racing as a kid, had a rc10T3 the week it came out. Once I got a driver's license and got into real cars it slowly faded out. Have a few other misc cars over the years, rock crawler, and a drone too. A few years back I got a arrma mojave 6s. Holy shit that thing is fast. 60+ and it's a tank. Still don't have much time for it though. This year my wife picked up a rc10b7 for me, she figured I needed a hobby while my buggy is down, and there is a track 15 min from my house. So I guess I will be back into racing here shortly. I'll most likely sell the mojave and the drone seeing how I don't use them....

I’m so old I remember when the grasshopper and the optima were kinda the cars.. then the optima mid was “the shit!” Then the flat pan rc10 came out and pretty much killed everyone on the track.. no more crazy differentials and chain cs belt drives etc.. just a motor slapped to a pan. lol

I haven’t been into it since I was a kid but I remember the trinity guys and I believe the Losi guys down at Del Mar where the big rc track was testing their motors on the benches etc.

I did a shit ton of prototyping for HPI 25’ish years ago.. they gave me a couple If 1/8 scale super nitros.. me being super responsible as well as my buddy that was my roommate at the time pretty much spent our entire tax returns building those god damn things. I can say I had a 100mph rc car at one point in my life though. lol. Sounded like an f1 car coming down the street.. 😳

I'm thinking about selling the DB-XLE. It's a beast and fun to drive but being a 1/5 scale it's a bit big for backyard bashing

Started with a Slash, then an Arrma Tyhpon 6s to full blown racing for my kid. He races all over the place now. Just got back from a race in Arizona last weekend.

A screen shot of my kid jumping his Arrma over our friend in camp. LOL!

The Team Associated RC10B7 is a great buggy on clay and outdoor.
