Camped in Gordons Well for Presidents day and boy what a chit show that place is. Honestly i have only camped there back in the late 90's once then went to Glamis. I get the occasional drive through on the way to Duners Diner but never spent any time there duning.
First off, you better pick a good entrance and keep your foot in in just to get to a hardspot to call home. I got stuck twice, finally aired down to 22psi and drove out of axle deep hole i made.
Next is the traffic and dust from everyone heading to shitters and Duners Diner, never a quiet moment.
Then you try and dune and BOOM! you hit closure stakes that make you do sketchy transitions just to stay legal.
small dune area where all tracks lead to Test Hill and that hill everyone loves to jump down the ledges or even side hill. At times its sketchy as frigg trying to dodge bikes and cars.
Now if you try and find your way back to Patton Valley, good luck getting in and out the legal way. Such an ass backwards way of duning bowls just to get there.
Granted some of the dunes are big and have weird technical hills in the middle which makes for more fun with mid hill jumps unlike the big smooth bowls and transitions of Glamis.
Then you get to the drags, wow some of the sandcars sure like hugging the crowd a little too much, even with a big dip in the run.
Other than a few sad findings i still had a good time in the sand, but i can tell you it will be another solid 20 years plus before i go back to camp.
