I know....I'm a little late to the show on this.

I'm not a tech guy. I just won a GoPro Hero12 in a raffle at work. It came with a few things but wanted to hear from the peanut gallery on what accessories are actually worthwhile and cool to have.

What are the best mounts/protection boxes for putting it on your car for dune rides? Any cool selfie sticks or tripods? What else?

The boom is a stout product with lots of adjustments. Also do yourself a favor and get a bright orange floating device in case you ever loose it in the sand and have to find it. I lost a Gopro couple years ago in the sand never to be seen again.

I haven't used mine in a long time but used it a lot for diving in Guam and used the waterproof diving case and diving filters ...other than that and spare batteries I never really added much in the accessory department. I really should dust it off and start using it in Glamis.

I can honestly say there is a difference in the go pro branded mounts and the ones from fleebay or scamazon. But I am using a dive box from Amazon that works great, also I buy packs of screen protectors from Amazon as well. The sand does a number on the lens... really fast.

A bag of zip ties

Tp strap people into their chair as you force them to watch you drive to olds over and over again. It will be like Ground Hog Day with a lousy soundtrack.

after owning a number of the "regular" go-pros, I bought the 360 version & I thought it was much nicer. the ability to rotate the direction of view was super cool. in the end though the video just looked like any other video taken by someone with a go pro mounted to thier buggy.

IMO, you dont get a lot of perspective of speed, especially when the go pro "dampens" or "gimbles" the video. I tried to mount it up super high, but broke the mount right @ where it screws into the go pro & lost an expensive camera. its probably still @ the top of the hill @ by Brawley Slide with 2 weekends of video on it.

If I were to do it again, I would abandon go pro altogether & go with a REALLY nice drone to follow the pack. IMO, that is the way to go. this is the future of buggy videos.
