What do you have?
Which did you like better, why?
Heard Frame MFG like Lippert, etc will deny claims, etc if a Gooseneck is used?

Thanks!

5th wheel.
Weekend Warrior, back in the day, would deny warranty claims if you use a gooseneck adapter.
Buddy had a 39' Warrior, ran a gooseneck for 3 years, cracked his pin box.

Genesis will void warranty as well but after one year I think the warranty is toast anyways.
I've looked into this as well; Lippert frame warranty is still good if you convert to the Reese Gooseneck with the internal airbag but I've heard lots of complaints on this setup as far as the airbag is a pain to deal with and the ride is just ok. Seems everyone likes the GenY setup but again not covered.
Genesis states the Gooseneck changes the leverage on the front of the frames causing all kinds of issues basically stating the frames are not structurally designed for this style of hitch.
I currently use the Curt Rota-Flex and it's just OK, I have considered converting to the GenY Hitch Box and keeping my B&W Hitch and not going gooseneck style, I like the idea of more room in the bed of my truck but think the traditional hitch platform is safer for the long run.

Again, just my .02

I have a 5th wheel and it has been problem free. I also don’t use my truck for much other than towing the trailer so I don’t remove it often. So the weight is not a big deal.

If I was older and needed to use the bed of my truck more often I would go motorhome.

Some fivers are offering Gen Y gooseneck upgrades. I prefer gooseneck anyway. Hopefully more manufacturers start moving away from Lippert crepe paper frames. interesting that both Rowley White and Genesis told me Gen Y was OK. Such a shady industry.

We've transported dozens of 5th wheels, most with the standard 5th wheel hitch amd a few with a gooseneck adapter. No preference for me.

I've only ever towed with my BW 5th wheel setup. Gooseneck seems nice and minimal though.
I will say, after taking my 33' WAY THE FUCK OVERLOADED from San Diego to Montana 2 months ago, I felt very safe and smooth the whole way.

Reese Goosebox on my Genesis since new, no issues with airbag at all. It’s actually nice to air it up when Offroad to get more bed rail clearance.

I did relocate the air filler to the trailer and added a gauge to see my pressure. It’s just 1/4” air tubing.

I do have some chucking still with it and it annoying at times. But I double tow and I’m sure that plays into it a lot.

GenY makes a standard style pin box that connects like a traditional hitch plate is OK....it's when you go Gooseneck style other than Reese it's not ok...makes no sense why Reese is approved and GenY is not. That's what Lippert told me when I called them last year. 😵‍💫

Guessing it has to do with the fact the Reese adds a pivot point / isolation with the airbag to minimize leverage whereas the Gen-Y & many gooseneck adapters are more or less a solid lever all the way to the ball.
Fifth wheel frames are not made for much bending moment / leverage in the hitch area. Compare the upper structure of a fifth wheel frame vs a similar rated gooseneck trailer. Big difference in material choice (thin rectangle tube vs I-beam or channel) and therefore bending resistance.

Interesting video excerpt on the topic: 13:07 - 16:00

I know they make a fiver, but it was gooseneck I was referring to. Lippert owns Reese, so naturally they think Reese is wonderful.
