My brother in law has a 1915 touring car, restored....they would take them up to cal city area and cruise the Borax mines out there...they will go just about anywhere....

Yes, but not very fast. They had high ground clearance and the ride quality sucks. Don~~~

My brother and I were there last weekend after breakfast at Duner’s Diner. Cool place to visit and take in a bit of desert history.

The Border Patrol has had a shoot-out in that area.  The west side of the Buttercup dunes, near the fence...where the fence is just south of the freeway.

Once, around 1980 where they came out OK.

2002, or so, an Agent was run-over there.  The rest area is, or was, named after. the Agent.

Agent Aguilar was killed by the driver of a drug load vehicle that drove unhindered into the U.S. across the Imperial Sand Dunes. The Department of Homeland Security has now constructed fence along 359 miles of the nation’s Southwest border.
