Fortin FRS5 R spec Vs. Albins AGB

GLAMIS WEATHER
Both are "dog-engagement" type gears, so they will all rattle when unloaded/coasting and sound like a box of rocks. It's the nature of a non-synchronized shift system.

Fortin's have straight cut gears, so they typically make a bit of a whining noise when rolling.

Albins and Weddle/Mendeola transaxles have helical cut gears, and thus don't tend to make the gear whine under loads.

Tried to call Fortin with no luck on getting a hold of someone yet

Have you tried calling Kevin?

Is the R-Spec not the 11" ring gear version? That was my impression.

Kevin McMullen, Daniel Folts, or Johnny Burns at Transaxle Engineering would likely know the differences.

I have a good friend Bj E, he has a Nomal Fortin and a R-spec and also has a albins in his current cars, i will ask him the skinny,
I know his Buckshot has the Albins and his Class 1 has the wide gear with Torque Converter, and His other Sand Car has a Albins in it,

Just call Kevin.

He has told me that running a Torque Converter in the Fortin makes the "stress" inside the gear box alot less because the converter soaks alot up compared to a clutch.
That's why guys that race with a Forin run a torque converter.
