What is a good funnel to stick in the filler neck of a sandcar that has a mesh screen filter fine enough to catch sand?

I used one of these for years, then built a fuel station & figured I replace my filters every year so why bother......

Any good filter will slow your filling rate considerably.
Search on “Baja Filter “ for the good ones.

Biggest issue I have is where the F do you keep it when not in use that won’t turn into a sand trap or make your camper smell like gas?

These might be spendy if you try to add one to every jug, but looks promising. Never tried it.

A 5 gallon bucket with a lid

Peas

I think the Funnel will collect more dirt over time than the fuel station nozzle, clean the nozzle with a shot of brake cleaner and then fill.  if really concerned about contamination in the fuel i would add a spin on filter on the fuel station and a water separator,

I have stainless 3'' prefilter and after a couple of years, i think it has been 4 years now, there is very little sand in the bottom,

can you use something disposable like a paint strainer for automotive paints?

Thanks guys! I think I have enough options now.

I was going to hang it on the camper in the spot next to me as a suggestion. You know that guy, the guy that brings his SxS to the dunes  and never drives it because he left his funnel at home. Just trying to be friendly.
