Engraving end of Axles

Might be a dumb question but is there any hard in engraving the end of your axles? I want to powercoat my axles but do not want to forget what side and what end is what. any issues with engraving each end?

you wont hurt them 

I linked the one I use on a daily basis.

Make sure you dont powder coat the splines...
