What are the do's and don'ts on E bikes?

Cruiser or Mountain bike style? Probably use on bike trails mostly. Occasionally dirt trails but I'm old and don't heal up like I used too.

Watts?

Range?

Fat tire?

Suspension? Front or full?

Brands to stay away from?

Also not looking to 'brake' the bank! I'm not spending $2k 0r $3k on a bike

I think Mike on here has had quite a few and may even have one for sale. He would be a great source.

DANG...I just got MOTED!

I know I'll be there with ya...I just want to hold out till in my 60's hopefully before going electric Mtn bike!

It all depends on what you want to do...I'd say full suspension, pedal assist. I'm sure there's deals out there!

Pedal assist for sure, im not that lazy,,,,,,yet!

I would go to a local bike shop and test a few models or go rent something.  If you're just going to cruise the bike trials from FV to HB you might go with an inexpensive 4" fat tire x 20' foldable ebike for around $500 on Amazon to start with.  Then if you feel it necessary to upgrade to something better down stream your initial investment wasn't that much.  If you want to get more aggressive and do some real mountain biking like Whiting Ranch and other OC spots etc. then your going to spend a lot more, probably 10x.

Good advice. I want something that I can do moderate (at most) trails. I'd like to take it with me to Prescott. Lots of dirt up there, close to the house. I plan on going to a bike shop too.

A trike with a huge grocery basket containing matching Pugs seems like the ticket. I’m visualizing you sporting a derby hat with your chain side pant leg tucked into your sock..,

Prescott, AZ? I am not sure E bikes are allowed on the trails there. Could be wrong but its worth looking in to.

Someday I will have a Pivot Shuttle or Specialized Levo. Someday....

If you're in OC, check out Driven Bikes, they'are in Costa Mesa. They have a few models, and colors, and their customer service is killer. I have their fat tire beach cruiser, and I have around 2K miles on it with zero issues. I bought my wife their womens cruiser a couple years back, paid cash, no sales tax, and her's has been flawless as well.

I'd be expecting to pay about $2K for a nice 750W bike with the large battery.

One thing I have found when you talk to owners and not salespeople, is the actual range is less than claimed so be ready.

First make sure you can get your hair fixed into a man bun.

what kind of EV car do you drive could be a factor also.

As long as you headed to the National Pug Punting of America Championship (NPPAC) that would actually be ok!

:laugh1:

I have the Rad Rover and love it. It’s fat tire and large frame which is perfect me for me being 6’6” and 220lbs. Rides super smooth, has pedal assist and full power mode. As far as range, I have never run it out of battery even after a 2+ hr ride.
