Car currently has some older 35.5 STU Sand Master #2 paddles.  They have seen better days and are in need of replacing.

Searching different profile of tires that are available today.  I have always been intrigued on the Dune Sport paddles since Funco uses them.  According to the STU site, the height profiles of the 35.5 and the Dune Sports 14.50 are the same height.  Is this correct?  The Dune Sports do look to be not as tall, but maybe this is deceiving since they are wider?  With the amount of HP the Funco cars are pushing the 14.50x17 Dune Sports do not seem to have issues with not enough tire.  While the 35.5 #2's are probably to much tire for my car.

My car has is setup with a 4.0 Whipple, LS 6.0, S4 and 12.50x17 STU's up front.

No experience with the Dune Sports, but I recently got rid of my 35.5 x 17 Sand Masters and went with the 36 x 17 Sand Blasters.  I like them much better as the car will slide much easier.  The people following me still think I throw way too much sand, but they agree that it is less than before.  I have a Kenne Bell blower on LS2 running a pump gas tune.

For height reference. From left to right…

So the 14.50x17's are much smaller as I thought.  Thank you both for the info.  I found the Instagram link.   Lievenseraceservices mentions 16.50 x 17 Dune Sports.  Those would be a great sized tire.

That's me on IG. Unfortunately they don't make that size anymore but I wish they did. I had a set for 5 seasons and absolutely loved them. Loaned them to a buddy and it completely changed his car, making it much easier to drive and slide.

We talked to them about making a run of 16.50 and they said 25 set minimum for the order. I know I could sell 10 sets immediately but don't have the capitol or warehouse space for the other 15 sets.

For comparison 16.50 X 17 on the left, 35.5 X 17 on the right.

That’s the 16.50 dune sport on the left?

Wow those would be the ticket!  Maybe get @Grant@Funco to support the 25 orders?  Bet we could sell them all here on GD easy.  :D  Wishful thinking...

My dune sport 14.50 x 17 mounted are 34 tall at the tire 35 to the top of the scoop. I had sand masters on mine when I bought it and hated them. I put on 16.50 dune sports for about 5 years and now I run the 14.50. The dune sports are a drifting tire, so they will change how your car performs.

Grant and I discussed it a while ago. It's a lot of capitol and warehouse space for a tire with very little mark up in profit. Not worth it, unfortunately.

Any pics of your car with them on ?  What size of fronts are you running?

Looking at the comparison pics between the 16.50 and the 35.5 seems like they are a more aggressive tire. I would guess if you needed that much tire you would just run the 35.5's you have now and see if they are too much tire or not.

Ahhh, I thought the pic was in reverse.  Makes sense.

White car has Dunesports 16.50 x 17 and the car on the right has Sand Masters 35.5 x 17. The Dunesports have quite the bubble over the rims side compared to other tires. We put the 14.50's on an Alumicraft and they rub on the shocks. Same offset on the rims. I wish they still made the 16.50's. I know of 3 sets to sell. As you can see I have had both on my car and the 16.50's are smoother and never catch the edge. The 14.50's slide easier but catch the edges sometimes. "In my opinion" the sand masters to me are only good for going straight. Not sure on my next set if they will be the Sand Blasters or the Dunesport 14.50's. I might try to find some rear shots of the tires.

Both cars had the same size rims in pic above.

Found the pics-

These are the tires the day I bought them in 2016 I think.  I do know I paid $2600 for the complete set of brand new wheels and tires.  Deal of the century.

And just because it's interesting to me- a side by side of a 35 X 15 X 10.5 BFG Mud Terrain next to a 37 X 17 X 12.5 General Grabber Red Label.
