So how many more years is it gonna take to get the rest of the closures removed? I mean it was proven 100 times over that the closures were BS! To be honest I feel the original closures were better suited for our duning community as a whole than what we ended up with!

Probably never gonna happen.

And if the idiots have their way, they will close the entire place down soon.

The trash and traffic are nuts.

Pack it in, pack it out?

Yeah right. 😡

Here is how I saw it go down. The first closures were between Pattons Valley and China Wall. Only the die hard duners rode that section. Then the closures were removed but then added to every valley from Pattons valley to Test Hill. Blocking off access legally to every valley from the sand highway. This forced tons of people to leave Gordon’s Well as they no longer had legal access to most dunes other than the first valley. So most that left moved to Glamis, unless they were a Gordon’s die hard, in which they ended up at Ogilby. I feel they did this so they could herd us into less locations to make policing easier. In the end, the closures are BS that need to be removed. I hope one day it changes.

Its a good thing the dunes are far less crowded now that we have an additional 150K SxS's and closures - sarcasm

But once they remove your rights, its nearly impossible to claw them back. You know how to vote, do it get them out
It could happen ...

since all the sxs and rain we do ride alot from china to patton with the quads always soft and smooth. also when they going to open up a crossing to the other side of the tracks we also ride a lot of the trails on that side so much cool stuff out there between glamis and paloverde

It would be worthwhile to at least attempt a fight to open a 1/8 mile-wide strip from sand highway to patton - and argue it's a life-safety issue. That would accomplish two things - give people a nice large "circle" to ride in and avoid that long closure strip along the highway, and honestly, prevent people from just ignoring the borders.
Maybe even a couple of those along the sand highway - basically a designated path in and out.

It's not asking for a lot but would result in less people crossing the closure, safer duning experience - and most importantly to win the argument - result in benefiting the plant life that sparked the closures.

Easier said than done of course.

I agree with this. My questions really were if anyone knew of any new news on this. It is very easy to end up in the closure by mistake. They have popo posted up in these areas for such occasions. Not to mention they haven’t removed all of the old closure poles still!

Here is the ASA info on the battle for a Patton Valley Corridor, I've heard access is horrible now.

Here is the Before / After maps.

The southern closure and corridors are contested. IMO best case is that the acreage is swapped to a less trafficked/desirable area and at least a small amount of common sense is used in drawing the lines. It's on their radar but the masses with the north reopened aren't bitching about it. The southern folks (and businesses) need to apply pressure and get it higher up on the priority list.

As for access across the tracks to our acreage over there, the hurdle of getting a government agency to be responsible for it is a larger hurdle than the 6mil price tag.

Check this link out from ASA. There are some changes happening east of the railroad tracks. Also check out the 30 x 30 and 50 x 50 proposals to lock up public lands (30% by 2030, 50% by 2050), and everybody's favorite topic - Ghost Camping!

I can understand why the North wouldn’t bother to fight as the closures don’t affect them for duning. On the other hand, more people would leave Glamis and camp at Gordon’s again if the closures were moved or lifted. At least that’s how I see it.
