Anyone know of a free or cheap dump site in the Costa Mesa area? Called around to a few different RV campgrounds in the area but they all want $20+ to dump. Not a big deal if that's what I need to do, just thought i'd see if anyone knows of anything else.

There's a quarter car wash in Westminster that I use occasionally 13095 Springdale St. It's $10 and you give the money to the owner. He's usually walking around there during the day. If not it's on the honor system and the sign asks you to leave the $ under the office door. Dump drain is on the end of the bay wall closest to the street. Has a fresh water hose spigot too.

I keep my rig at an equestrian center about 7 miles from my house. Try to hit the dump at Mecca, but sometimes there's a big line (or that casino out there).

For me if those options don't work there is a gas station off El Toro (or maybe Lake Forest).. it's just SUPER tight and I have to bring my Son or Wife so I don't hit anything.

Some tips for dumping if you don't already know them.

After dumping the black, run a garden hose through the window to the toilet, close your tank and fill up the ENTIRE tank to the top with fresh water, then flush. We have a dump hose with a clear spot at the elbow and you'll be amazed at all the sh__ (pun intended) above the 'water line' in that tank. We do this 2-3 times. Then add 5lbs of ice with the detergent as you head back to where you store it.. the ice will bang around and help remove stuff stuck to the inside of the tank and will melt and just be a little bit of water.

I've found following these procedures makes it so my pooper never smells. Oh, there are also 2 types of butt wipes you can use (supposedly) in the TH tank Scott Flushable Wipes & Cottonelle FreshCare. I can't remember which one we bought, but we have used them for a few trips and it really really helps since I don't shower but every 2-3 days out in the desert.

Best,

abc

You fill the entire tank to the top 2-3 times at the dump?  People behind you must be fans...

I'm just gonna chit in there again.  While I don't want kibbles and bits clogging the works up and causing problems, I'm not concerned if my brown guests find the place a little messy when they arrive.  A rinse with the hose at the end of the flush is plenty for me.

I throw my left over ice in the tank before I leave camp, there is nothing solid when I get home to dump.  I never rinse my tank, and it never smells.  Maybe my shiat doesn't stink, haha

Yes, but can you drink out of it?

Oh I’m no newbie to dumping. I usually dump at red earth on my way back, but last trip I had my toy hauler with me it was blowing 50mph at red earth and I didn’t feel like stopping. My other option is my driveway, but currently has 2 boats on it and it’s a pain in the ass to move everything

Yeah.. with the 'team' and the water flow is fast from the deal, we're in and out pretty quick. .. plus I doubt I know the person behind me so.. eff em.

Try it and if you have a clear elbow on your shitter tube, you'll be amazed at all the lovely brown colors.. ick!

If you have the blue goo in the tank and don't let the liquid dry out just let it sit until the next time you bring it out.  Let it peculate as long as the seal from the toilet is good and your vent works it won't smell.  If your toilet doesn't hold water in the bowl, or if your vent is blocked do not attempt. Also if you let the tank go dry your effed.

I had a full grey tank chit the bed while parked...  Figured I'd dump it next time on the way out.  Nope.  The smell brought neighbors out wondering WTF it was...  LOL

"plus I doubt I know the person behind me so.. eff em."  Nice.  Meanwhile... https://calmatters.org/environment/2022/02/california-drought-record-january-february/

But hey, when we're drinking reconstituted poop water, we can all take solace in knowing ABC's poop tanks are clean.

Let's Go Brandon!... you voted for him?
LOL... no, sorry to disappoint, but that's relevant how?  Could be wrong however, while we can certainly give credit to Brandon for record fuel prices, inflation, out of control spending/$5.2 trillion increase in national debt, unchecked "immigration", botched Afghanistan withdrawal and resulting deaths, etc., he gets a pass on the current water reservoir storage levels.  As for your lack of consideration for your fellow RV/duners at the dump station? That's on you, not Brandon.

Inability to refute, resort to personal attacks/insults... a tactic commonly employed by leftists.  :classic_laugh:
