I'm trying to find a company that sells or makes a good cover for a dual sport car. I'm so tired of tarps that don't fit, blow off in the wind and just basically look like crap.  I want a nice fitting good looking cover that will protect the car from weather.  Anybody know where I can get such a thing?

I used a sedan cover from Amazon. It didn’t go over the tires though.

Bought an $80 warer proof cover for a Suburban and it does the job.

I used to use a Ram Dually cover and it worked good to cover the rear paddles

Old car used an off the shelf Ford Excursion cover. It was big enough to cover the car and half way down the tires. New car got a cover craft, haven't used it yet but the quality is outstanding. Buy once cry once on the cover craft.

Get those cheap moving blankets from harbor freight to cover your hood and roof  paint, then get the waterproof largest SUV cover you can find with straps and buckles that go underneath the car I've had mine for many years and it's never blown off.

Bringing this topic back to life a little bit.

Do any of you use your car cover while transporting on an open trailer?  I'm in Michigan and with our unpredictable weather in the spring/fall I'm looking for a cover I can use to keep the car dry while transporting.

If you wanted a custom fit car cover to hold up to the environment and fit like a glove then try any local boat/marine canvas companies. They will come out and template your car and sew up a cover with all the underside soft material needed. Price, well that's subjective.  Sunbrella is a great choice for material. Its heavy but with wind thats a plus.

I transport a lot of sand cars, 5 on Wednesday of this week, and car covers on an open trailer are not feasible. The cover will get torn to shreds, plus it will beat the sh!t outta the paint or wrap.

I've told clients in the past- the car isn't made out of sugar, a little rain water won't melt it. Some get it, some don't.  Business is growing so I ordered a new wide body enclosed trailer and should have it before Halloween, hopefully.

I was scheduled to pick up Pont's brand new 1Badwhateveritsnamed Tatum from Redline and take it 375 miles to Tatum last week. Only had a flatbed available and lost that job because he wanted it in an enclosed. No biggie, had more jobs to do. Wonder if it'll get transported from Pad 3 to the drags in an enclosed? Or Flagpole, Olds, Vendors? I'm kidding, Jeff is a good guy. To each their own. I have new equipment coming. But new equipment means new pricing.

LRS:, I get it, I'm not afraid of some rain our weather is just so hit and miss at the beginning and ends of our season that I was just curious if others had any decent luck with specific covers. So far I've been pretty lucky and most of the days I've transported it's been nice.

GreaseMonkey, A custom cover sounds expensive, but I don't know that for sure. I'm just going to have to keep an eye out for a good deal on an enclosed.

Thanks guys!

If I had to guess, it be in the $1000.00 range. I've often considered it as I camp in the washes. I've covered with every over the counter cover they offer. It just doesn't work in the rain with wind.  I like my car and care for it like it's candy and I'm not alone.  I transport in a fifth wheel and store at Glamis so I'm not dealing with what your looking to do. But if I was, towing open and had weather up against me, I'd throw the fitted custom  cover on and sit it out till the rain stopped.

Most will say don't pressure wash or use a hose to wash your car, just wipe and blow it out.  Then in another comment they say tow in the rain. I don't get it.

You can be prepared if you choose to be. Having a good cover isn't a bad choice.

Just my opinion.

There are companies that make custom covers for boats, I know a few guys that have them. Fit like glove, I mean absolutely perfect, over the engine and headers and everything. Last I heard they are around 2500 to have made......

I'll have to look into a custom cover to see what it actually costs. I was just assuming it might be double around your guess, if it's around 1k, then it might be worth it for me. We only have a couple weekends left here in MI, so I got our off season to dig into it more.

I also agree it's interesting to hear all the different ways people maintain and/or protect their toys. That is why I love this forum, so many more sand car folks with experience doing what I'm asking about.

Thanks for the feedback.
