Dometic fridge light switch...

Fifty two dollars on Amazon??? 😱

Sorry I didn't take pics along the way, but it Can be rebuilt!

See the two plastic spot welds?

I VERY careful drilled em, just till they got loose, and that's what it took to open this stupid switch up.

Inside there is a spring, a little brass bar (that makes the connection) and the two spade terminals.

Everything was all corroded up!

Soft wire brush, to clean everything up. Some electrical contact cleaner to help. And a small soldering gun to re-weld the two spot welds.

My fridge light works again! 😁

I put a fancy LED bulb in it too. 😎

There is a switch on the upper fridge frame labeled "Climate Control Switch".

Downside: That heater draws extra 12V power continuously, and in hot climates it can slightly increase how hard the fridge has to work.

When to use it:

Humid environment? Turn it ON to stop water from dripping around the fridge.

Dry climate or boondocking? Leave it OFF to save power.

So it’s basically an anti-sweat switch, not a thermostat or temperature controller.

Top RH corner of the inside of the fridge frame. The switch faces down.

(You'll probably have to open the freezer door to see it)

Truthfully, I just barely noticed it today. I thought it was a power switch to turn the fridge on or off!

One thing you also want to look out for on these Fridges is the lower door seal/magnet.

Inside the seal itself is a strip magnet. Make sure you keep the fridge body surface clean between the door seal and the fridge or that seal will tear and expose or let the magnet slip out and never seal correctly again.
