Curious for those with fueling stations in your trailer. Do you connect a static ground before you start pumping fuel? Where do you connect it to? Just a decent conductive point on the vehicle you are putting fuel into?
I also have a 28 gallon fuel caddy that has a 12v pump. The tank itself is plastic. It has a static ground cable too. My understanding is static can build just from the gas flowing through the pump and hoses so best to attach the ground out of an abundance of caution.
What are your thoughts and common practices on this subject?

I don’t ever connect that wire. I have tanks on multiple trucks, granted they are diesel and less likely to blow, but I don’t do it on the gas tanks either.
At least I’m not smoking a cigarette while filling up at the pump like I’ve seen some people.
