Just did waterpump on LS2.   Question for the GD crowd, do I need antifreeze?   Can I run just distilled water?    Pros/Cons.

I run it in everything I own.  the only exception is if there are class rules (Drag Racing) that prohibit it.

I have run distilled with a bottle of water wetter for a long time now. I believe my cars run coolest on that combo.

There were a couple of trips about 10 years ago where when I got up in the morning everything was frozen. Beers, water, chairs etc.

Not saying it was cold enough or long enough to freeze an engine block but still made that impression on me.

I'd imagine we will see some of those cold nights again soon.

Antifreeze has multiple properties that protect against other issues not just freezing.

Anti corrosion and anti cavitation are the top two for me.

The radiator would freeze first.

yes an no water wetter and water works good   but if you are not having a problem with heat i would run 25% antifreeze good to about 10 degres you get a little bit more corrosion resistance

I run filtered water and two bottles of Royal Purple engine ice.

I run mine on Liberal Tears.  Every time I start the engine, more tears are produced.

Water wetter is a waist of money if you run distilled water,

Water wetter is no secret, it is used in many facilities

Water Wetter is a disfractant,  Disfractant are micro carbon that pop the bubbles in liquids, this allows for the water to get closer to the material or called a antifoaming agent

Regular water has material that can foam so water wetter would make a slight defense against foaming

When you run Anti-Freeze, then water wetter would help defoam the chemicals in the Anti-Freeze,

This is why water wetter works good for some and others nothing, it is not a magical product, just a defoaming agent, so if you have a system that has issues it can help,

I only run water wetter if i am running Antifreeze,

Plenty of video's on Disfractant's  on youtube on how it works,

I personally run Half of 50/50 Antifreeze this should get you to around 10 Degrees of protection, dont think i have ever had a storm with the car that low in temperature, Then one bottle of Disfractant,

That’s good info right there!

One thing to consider is travel.  I had a friend taking his race car to a race and ended up stuck over night where the Temps dipped.  Cracked the block.  They just arrived at the race and the motor had to come out.  LOL.

Point being, chit happens.  Why screw with what works.  JMHO.
