So i was burned once with a guy in the next county over,  called with a phone order. After paying for it on the phone, instead of us shipping it to him he said his brother was right around the corner and can he pick it up?  well that was a mistake.  after he picked it up the customer said his card was used fraudulently as nothing was sent to him and we could not prove that the "brother" had picked it up for him.  it was $1200 and i was seriously mad enough to go over there and do something stupid.  anyways i counselled with my processor and learned a big lesson(and lost the money) cause i didnt do it by the book.   i also asked what i need to do to prevent anything of a chargeback to never happen again. They told is and we are on top of it.

so we had a customer order an AEM dash for $1500 in Florida.  he used 2 credit cards $945 on one and the balance on the other.  both transactions were approved, "all" information that is asked of us to take was. VVC code, address, shipping and billing were the same, i mean everything!  two weeks later we get a chargeback and they debit our account the $945, he said his card was used fraudulently and that he never order the product, then 3 days later the other charge on the other card, same thing.  Our bank has now suspended our money and said that there is nothing to do and that it will take up to 30 days for results.  they also said that 99% of the time customer wins.  i said but i did everything to the tee.  she said well you don't know if the person who ordered it was a fraud and then drove by the house and picked the product up. :blury:

Then he had the audacity to order another dash before the first charges were denied! so let me get this straight, he used two cards and both approved, so i guess the thief stole two of the customers cards?  he no longer answers his phone calls, the thief also knows and is using customers email to order another one?  and lastly the customer clearly received it as the drop off was confirmed and he "ordered another one " just like the "first one" and the bank cant seem to see it is a scam.  i went to the bank itself and have elevated the case as I'm not waiting for some retard to make a decision with my money.  i told the bank that i have spent $285k in the last 10 years on bank fees for my credit card sales and that those "fees" are clearly to help me the merchant when this type of thing happens

we will see how this plays out

Would it make a difference if the product had to be signed for when delivered so you have proof it was received?

I'm seeing a business opportunity here.

Merchant gets ripped off, bank rubs salt in the wound, so the merchant calls an 800#, gives the address and amount he got stiffed for. The company that owns the 800# sends a local guy to visit the ripoff artist and he assists the ripoff artist in handing over the merchandise or the cash, merchant's preference. Then he performs an emergency knee realignment to help sh1tbag's vision improve and help him see the error of his ways. Then the knee specialist keeps 15 or 20% for his efforts.

This way no matter where the sh1tbag lives, merchants have a way to reach out and touch them and get most of their money back.

They didn’t say that was a requirement but yes good idea none the less

Where in Florida is this shitbag?  I'm in the buggy world and VW world in Florida.  So I'd like to know who to put on blast.

hell when i order anything I ask them for a signature requirement, so if i'm not here they won't drop it and it get stolen. Sometimes its a pain, but haven't lost anything yet knock on wood. Anything you ship should be signature required

Did he happen to live in Valrico Florida, same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago through pay pal and pay pal refunded his money and I never got my parts back. Pay pal told me to pound sand.

Signature on delivery requirement costs the shipper an extra $10.

The shipper charges an extra $10 per order to require the signature on everything they ship.

Customer complains about shipping costs to the shipper.

Shipper explains the higher shipping costs and signature requirement to the customer.

Customer says: "I'm home all the time, take the signature requirement off and save me the $10"

Shipping company delivers package to customers front porch and it gets stolen.

Customer calls shipper and complains that they never received the package and that the shipper should refund or replace the stolen goods.

What does the shipper do to prevent this in the future?

Make it a policy to charge the extra $10 for the signature requirement but it is included in the total shipping cost and not disclosed to the customer. You may be out a sale if the customer doesn't like the shipping policy, but that is better than being out the part and the cost of shipping if it is stolen or disputed.

Agree with this. Get the $10. Actually, get $11 to cover the CC fees. Just don't tell them that it's $11 for a signature.

he would have still signed it and got it.  the issue is he said he never ordered it.

from what you guys, (I"m referring to sand rail/sxs,car part suppliers/mfg's) sell, not much is cheap, or offer a 10.00 promo coupon and write it off as advertising.

I just bought some air bags, compressor for my truck and it adds it in automatically, if you take it off at checkout, it says you removed it and its on you.

My inventory for the business isn't even posted for the public to see online, you have to have a membership (except for 50 items on eBay). .. my other 40,000 SKUs are only on private 'pay-for' platforms.

In 17 years, I've never lost a dime cause I'm ..

a. Not dealing with the public, except for eBay and folks have tried to make claims, but I've won ever single dispute (photos, etc.).

b. Stopped taking PayPal/Credit Cards years ago after a few (bogus) reverse charges (won those too), but fortunately, no fraud.

c. Most of my customers are NET 30 (know them personally) and publicly traded large companies like Northrop, etc., CODs (depends on size) or mostly it's TT in advance.. I get the money BEFORE they get the parts.

I feel for you. Bank should back you up.. total B.S.

Fingers crossed you get your $$ back.

Sincerely,

abc

PS. I used to have shipping insurance and sometimes I'd buy it right from UPS, if I remember correctly .004% of the amout you're insuring with a $25k limit (this is 10 years ago so all these things may have changed).. so huge orders of $250k, I'd break down to 10 boxes and it'd cost me $1,000 in insurance to ship it.

Had I done that these last 17 years on all shipments, I would have sent $100k to the insurance companies. Fortunately Fed-Ex/UPS has never lost a box,.. damaged a few, but never lost one.

Now that we offer direct purchasing on our website (worldwide), we have had more than a few occasions of complaints from customers that want to order a $5 seal, then call to complain when they see they need to pay a minimum $15 UPS Ground shipping charge in the US, or minimum $60 international shipping charge.

"Well why don't you just ship it USPS?" Because USPS has lost more of our packages than it has become worth for us to replace them at our cost. Sorry, we don't want to throw our money away either.

We do not generally get complaints from those who are spending more than $100 and paying the $15/$60 shipping charges. It's those that want to buy a .89¢ circlip for their clutch arm, which happens far more often than I care to speak about.

For the small number of you who post on here, you are generally not the type of customer that will have this type of issue, nor be in this segment of customers that we sell to. This is mostly for customers in area's of the country/world where they do not have a local VW/Transaxle specialty shop/supplier that they can drive to within 20-30 mins to pick up what they need, so they are forced to pay the shipping costs, and will therefor complain about any extra cost involved with the small part they are needing.

i'm in the minority I guess, cause if i need an 5.00 seal or a .89 clip, I order like 5 of each to help offset that shipping cost lol. That's why I have bearings, seals, parts to stuff I'll never need again lol. I just took about 15-20 spark plugs for various bikes, buggies, etc I've owned over the years and gave them to the local shop because I just hate to throw stuff away that's good.

most of my LS scams come out of Florida, if you order from my website, and it is from New-York or Florida I hold it for 3-5 days, so far 80% of the transaction that i hold then run the card was declined

or i also do a address search and if it show some shade post office company or i have had it as a radom unoccupied building, i just cancel the transaction,

Sorry to hear about the loss, it sucks, as a supplier of parts we dont have much leg to stand on,

Had someone order a CV,  RCV was backorder, shipped it from RCV, customer felt it took to long to ship, and made a claim that it was damaged and we eat the charge back.

might not be correct, but filed it on my taxes as $120 for CV, time spent on claim $100 a hour at 4 hours total of $520 loss, and filed a police report to have backup paperwork. as stolen item,
