A bit of a weird one. I’m looking for a diesel tuning guru. I have a 1970 bronco that I’m swapping a diesel engine into. It’s an m57 which is a 3 liter compound turbo inline 6 engine out of a 2011 bmw. There’s a ton of support for this in Europe but much less in the US. Some people on the US have gotten these engines to run standalone but they seem hesitant to share how they did it. Let me know if you have any diesel tuning experts I can get ahold of. Thanks in advance!

The reason you might be having problems getting information is the EPA is cracking down like crazy on diesel tuners. Businesses and people might be leery to share information over the web or email just in case it could be tracked back to them. Beat way might be a phone call or in person visit to a specialist on these types of motors.

I figured this was the case, especially here in California, I called a few shops on the east coast and have some leads on getting the tuning done.

Thanks for the links! These are unfortunately setup for the European variant that have different ecus (they don’t have all the emissions crap there on these models, lucky them). Though I could probably make the standalone ecu work, it’s pretty pricey and would require a ton of rewiring on my end.  I talked to Weismann and they’re looking into making a setup for the US versions since enough people have been bothering them about it lately.

Good news is Kassel performance on the east coast says they can make tune my ecu to run in a standalone config and have done it before. We’ll see how it goes
