I have several high end older cars I am selling and curious if anyone has had luck with one of the above vs another. I have had them on FB Marketplace and CL but would like to find a national audience. Especially since it is hotter than Hades here right now.

The 53 Olds is the only car I have not listed yet. 502BB, 4L80 Trans, 9 inch rear, frame gusseted. Glen Kramer interior. Such a nice car and cruiser. Needs a couple of small things fixed before I list it.

BAT has become a joke. I have a car right now with a consigner named Gateway classic cars. They seem to have a wide audience.

From what I am seeing right now is that people are holding onto their $$$$, and not buying unless its a really good deal.

I was going to say the same thing. Last year was the best time ever to sell toys. Covid pricing is over and money's tight unless it's a smoking deal. I only list on FB Market Place and you can create ads in different cities.

What's up with BAT that you find issues with ?

Wow!  What happened to BAT?  The prices are crazy low in comparison to what I've seen for the same cars over the past 4 years.

IMO and observations, it's a hit or miss market right now...

If someone is looking for something in particular they will search and will pay "ok" for the car that matches their needs - Generally people do a Google search first and as long as you are somewhere that puts your search up top  - people click it.

People seem to check FB marketplace and BAT, more than everything else,  but  Hemmings and ebay still get play.

The problem is unlike the last couple years where there were LOTS of people with $$ just looking for a cool car and  buying something that stood out,  now there are far fewer buyers and they pretty much know what they want.

Also the Lookie-lou's and sightseer's on FB and BAT make the numbers look good, but the transactions just don't support that.

Classic cars are right now a buyers market for sure. The people with money that always have money are buying "A' cars, Pedigreed cars, and 100 pt cars, because they can and they are available. The exception is when a classic shows up in a big movie the flurry from real buyers goes crazy - thats the time to cash in bigger...  thats always been the case.

not to derail the conversation, but Im looking for a "new toy" & prices seem nuts to me.  Maybe though Ive just been out of it for too long & this is what they are....

might want to wait till Jan and sell at Barett Jackson.   what about the yellow truck and yellow vette .  text me some details and price.

I had talked to BJ about one of the cars. 8% sellers fee would have been $6400 plus $1500 extra to run on Saturday. May have considered that but no reserve. To risky for my blood. Plus there is a LOT of junk that gets sold at BJ. We get those cars in the shop all the time. Lipstick on a pig and the happy new owner gets some big surprises after the purchase. Seen it multiple times.  My dads cars are the best of the best the way he built them. I guess what I am saying is they should be worth more than some of the crap that sells. I am redoing the ad on the truck this weekend and will post that ad when done. Took some new pics today as well. That truck appraised at $90,300 in February and I am going to reduce it to $73,500. Yellow Corvette is the car my dad and I built together over 2.5 years. It is not for sale at least for now. That car appraised at $295k this year and I guess I would consider a sale at that price.

BAT is probably the best to sell, with low seller fees at 5%. I have sold on their site and did well. It is definitely slowing down; however, the right cars still bring in top dollar. The Hemmings site is not bad, just not the same traffic. The Mecum and BJ auctions are over hyped and charge to much for seller fees. Might get a good deal selling, but for the most part I would not buy from them. Autohunter.com seems to be good, but I don't think it has the same traffic or bidders as BAT.

Keep in mind on BAT, you have to fill out an application to sell, and they will negotiate reserve with you if they don't think it will sell at your reserve price. And it does take some time from start of application until auction start.

Just went on BAT. Could spend hours there. Peace

CL is not bad, lots of tire kickers but it hits the local market.

FB Market place is a joke. F*@k Facebook and the people that post on there. Thats just my experience...

For the life of me I can't recall the name.  But when my wife's dad died we had a pretty hardcore drag Nova to sell.  We posted to a national site and had several legit buyers hit us up.  Eventually sold to a guy from up LA area.

For serious gear you gotta get off public yardsale sites like Facebook and Craigslist.
