We have a corvair in the shop and need to rebuild the gearbox transaxle. Been calling around some of the normal buggy trans shops and nobody seems to want to work on it. Anybody know of anyone in Phoenix or I guess as a second choice we could ship it to someone.

Ist off, what sort of motor is in that beast in the background?  (Compared to a CJ, or Wrangler, a LC is an animal, that can do most anything?)

That thing on the lift....interesting.

I looked, ad didn;t find anything.  So, I posted for you, on Chevytalk, in their Corvair section....we'll see.

Are you talking about the Toyota Land cruiser fj45 one year only vehicle?

I have a friend that was trying to give away 2 spare engines and a Saginaw transaxle (father passed away)

I know the Corvair transaxles are pretty weak, I had a friend that had a sand car with one and he would take a couple extra's to the dunes and dune until he ran out of them. DON~~~

The trick was to keep the motor at 110 hp and not use the 140 hp Corvair motor.

Was trying to add the image of Homer Simpson backing into the bush for entertainment purposes, but Im not so good at getting these things posted.

Other than that, I have nothing productive to add to this thread.

Or switch to a beefed up VW transaxle. That was what I told my friend but he was a Corvair loyalist. DON~~~

A VW transaxle in a Corvair?

Take a good look at it....it looks like it is from a car.
