Got a car with a Weddle HV-24/HV-25 in it?

We want your thoughts, opinions, good, bad, all of it. We have a few hundred of these floating around now, and want to gather some information from those of you that are actually putting miles on them.

Tell me what kind of car you have, what engine, how much power it makes, and how often you are using it. How long have you had it. Any issues? Complaints? Not going to hurt our feelings, just want honest reviews and maybe we'll ask to use your car in some promotional material.

Please send me an e-mail: sean@weddleindustries.com

(please don't send me a message on the board, they are harder for me to track and I don't respond as often)

Care to share what kind of feedback you got from this? I have an HV24 in my car but I must have missed this thread, I love the trans by the way.

I had a few people send me e-mails. It was good to hear a from a quite few that had many 1000's of miles with no issues or complaints. They are proving their value and longevity. (unapologetic sales pitch there)

We were more curious about what people thought about the shift quality, specifically in 2nd gear as that has always been a sticking point for our test mule trans. Only a few complaints from those that pushed them hard, so we let them know we have the new multi-cone synchro for 2nd gear that helps out immensely with 2nd gear shift quality.

My 2nd gear shift has always been a little clunky with even a bit of grind when cold but it's nothing i'm worried about. There's never been any serious metal in the oil other than the usual metallic sludge on the magnet. I have been using the Maxima oil and it did seem to help. I dune while leaving the trans mostly in 3rd gear, the 6.0 has plenty of torque for it.

My only gripe is a pesky drip from one of the side covers, it's just a few drips over several weeks sitting in the garage and not a huge deal. I may roll it on it's side while I've got it out and change the o-ring.

I bought mine from Bill at AZ Transaxle back when they were still $9000, in hindsight I should have bought 2 lol. They used to be the best bang for the buck out there but now theyre too close in price to the big boy transaxles that I'm not so sure I'd buy a new HV trans if I had to choose again.

The LS bell housing is the best though, I use the Weddle 11" clutch and block mounted starter, no more VW stuff. The 11" weddle clutch is the cat's meow for driving in the dunes. The Albins actuator did shit the bed on me in between trips though, an $8 rebuild kit fixed it right up. I had it out and back together over 2 evenings.

I'm about 5 years in with the trans and nowhere near time for a rebuild yet, there's no noises or other odd things with it, so far so good. Bill at AZT did mention I'd have a long life with it if I stuck with 930s and 33s. ;)
