My 16 year old son has his drive test next week. The truck we bought has window tint that is in my opinion very dark. Is this still a thing where it might get him failed before he even begins the test? We have other vehicles that he can use but he is most comfortable in the truck he has been driving for the last 6 months. San Diego 70 degree weather should he have the windows down when the test starts?

Yes, any infraction seen will cause an immediate fail. Missing front licence plate, tint, tire condition etc.

My oldest did her test down in Brawley last year. Youngest will have hers there in 2 weeks. I don't think they care about anything down there. *in a good way.

I remember doing mine in about 89 and dmv lady came out check registration, ins, then a quick inspection of car headlight brake light turn signal and horn test,This was in san clemente back then it was an uncrowded dmv too.

Use to be known as the secret location dmv LOL use to walk in and out in 5 min but once the population grew and others found out it was done for.

Bansh is right about Brawley. Took my oldest there a few years ago because it was a pain in the ass just to get an appointment in San Diego and the Covid bullshit certainly wasn't making it any easier. She was back in like 5 minutes, passed no problem. Took my youngest last month. Same thing, in and out. If it helps justify the drive from San Diego, bring a cooler, stop at Ramey's and load up on Carne and pollo asada.

That would make for an unforgettable day for the kid! 💕

My daughter took her drivers test a couple months ago at the San Marcos DMV. Her Jeep has tinted windows on the front and they didn't say anything about it.

My daughter just passed hers in palm springs, her Toyota windows are tinted, they didn't say anything about it

My son passed his test with tinted windows in Rancho Cucamonga. Wasn't an issue.
