I have bought so many brands of whips over the years and while no expert I spent a lot of $$$ ....and I prefer the simplicity of the Buggy whip both the original and LED - no extra wires and they are bright. IMO they are The premium maker and cost a premium, but they are so easy and really reliable. Although the LED 1156 bulbs mostly suck on the originals and getting good standard 1156 bulbs is hard and they seem so dull now ... so I would rather have led strip whips
All the others are pretty similar to me although some hold up better and have better warranties and thew companies while not around as long as BW have $ and staying power - which count a lot to me. The new style Magnetic mount whips are pretty cool and seem to be easier, I looked at a lot of them. Compared to the pin type (which are Ok but I lose things like pins) I had some 5150's but not buying them again. I bought a set of Marshin whips when the new owner updated the design, and liked them because I think they have the best positive lock and don't turn, so we started selling them in the store because the price is really good and so is the warranty and they are really bright. Marshin tells me "others" have grounding issues, but I only saw that with one other brand, so who knows -
I have friends with Whipsnshyt whips and they are reliable and seem like good whips, reasonably priced and they are bright and owner is a nice guy and member
I absolutely think the 9 million Chinese whips out there all suck, well the mounts are Junk mostly and I see more dead Leds on them, I know that might offend some people but I have seen so many of those fail, its laughable and it seems they all just copied one companies worst design and used the cheapest aluminum they could find
the rage of the UTV crowd is Bluetooth RGB whips which IMO are a gimmick and something else to fail. the idea is good, but nearly all of the RGB controllers are the same and made super cheap in China and any voltage spike will take them out (circuit protection is expensive and the first thing to go out of the cost sensitive design) they also hate moisture, so the UTV guys that seem to pressure wash their cars after trip see lots of failures - so hopefully the warranty is good
thats my 2 cents take it FWIW
