Has anyone made the switch on their sand rail from the STU style paddles to the buffed style paddles that the sxs guys all run? Looking for some real world reviews.

Purchased a new to me buggy a few years back and previous owner purchased STU 12.50-17 fronts and 35.5-17 #1 cut rears right before selling it. Car is a 3,100lb dual sport. N/A 415 LS3 w/ an S4. I drove the car with this set up for a few trips. The front 12.50’s steered the car well. I recently switched to Rogue 35-17 front buffs and 33 blasters #2 cut. Surprisingly, the car isn’t any harder to steer. I think it’s a combination of the Rogue’s work good on my car and being able to slide the car around more with the different rear tires. I didn’t run the 10.50-17s due to them throwing a good amount of sand into the back seats of my car. Also, I liked the floatation on the wider front tire.Has anyone made the switch on their sand rail from the STU style paddles to the buffed style paddles that the sxs guys all run? I’m actually thinking about going with a shorter rear tire just for the gearing part. I really like the 14.50 dune sport and like to go back to it. How do the rogue fronts look height-wise to the 33 blaster?Purchased a new to me buggy a few years back and previous owner purchased STU 12.50-17 fronts and 35.5-17 #1 cut rears right before selling it. I know there has been previous threads about “Buffed Tires” on buggies and others didn’t find them to work too well on their buggies. I like them on the front of my buggy and don’t regret the purchase. As far as rears, are you looking at buffed paddles due to weight savings, price, or?? If it’s weight, you could comp cut some STU’s to shave down on weight.
Gearing, transaxle longevity, and spinning a smaller tire is what I liked about the change. It made the car more responsive on throttle and slide better in corners. The Rogue front on my 7.5” wide wheel is a true 35”. Not many shorter front wheel options for a 17” wheel. I inquired about the Sandcraft Mohawk 35-17 fronts but they were similar size when mounted as a 12.50-17 STU. The Rogue fronts would pair great height wise to a dune sport. I weighed the Rogue’s before mounting and they came in at 26.4lbs.I’m actually thinking about going with a shorter rear tire just for the gearing part.
