Brittany Force Makes The Fastest Run In Top Fuel History (Again) In Q2 At Pomona Raceway (338.94MPH)

I'm 6.5 miles from the Pomona Drags, and we can hear the big boys running all day long from the patio...VVRRROOOOMMMMMM...

It's awesome.

It's been so long since I went to an NHRA event, John Force was a young gun, and names like Bernstein and Amato were just hitting their stride. I think it was at Maple Grove Raceway. LOL

the first time you see a TF car make a pass; it shocks every sense in your body (even with ear plugs AND earmuffs on)......

No ear plugs for me, you have to have the sound and smell of the nitro. DON~~~

one of my fondest memories was taking my boys to the winter nationals & telling them when these nitro cars come by the whole building/stands/track/road shakes.  I got the "dad your full of beans" look, until the first car went down........  LMFAO.

second was in the pits as they were fixin to fire up a funny car after rebuilding the motor.  the boys wanted to be "right up front".  I said "stand back here, trust me you WILL be able to see".  sure enough they fired the car up everybody standing @ the rope took off for the hills & we had a front row seat.   :classic_cool:   good times!!!!

Been a while since I went. Definitely shakes your whole body.

Last time was in 1999 at the Winter Nationals when the parachuter's came down, the one guys shoot caught a gust of wind and folded his shoot right above where we were sitting and he fell, slammed into the K-Rail and he landed face down...instantly dead! 2 Top Fuelers we're on the starting line waiting to go...

Yeah they had to do some cleanup and it was gnarly...

We ended up just going back to the trucks and cracking some beers...didn't watch one race that day. Was sad!

Haven't been back since.

I was there that year and watched the guy die also, very sad to watch. We noticed when the ambulance left it didn't have his emergency lights on so we figured he was dead. DON~~~

My son worked on a funny car team and he always got me a starting line pass, don't wear a white shirt because it won't be white after the fuel cars leave the starting line, black rubber. DON~~~

Yep, It went down the track slowly, no lights.

I saw a paramedic scrape the pavement to clean it after they pulled him up...an image I'll never get out of my head!
