Well, I'm back from an EPIC trip in Glamis for our Annual Boys Trip and it did not disappoint!
We have a HUGE group and camped at Cement Flats. My immediate group consisted of 7 sxs's and about 10 of us...the rest of the group makes up almost 150..sometimes 200.
Got there Wednesday around 4:00 and set up camp. The retirees were there since Monday or Tuesday and had the huge wagon circle all laid out, but we camped just outside of that.
This was the first time to glamis since getting my Can Am and it did AWESOME!
I just aired the tires down to 10 psi and ran in 4wd all weekend. On a side note, my buddy ran paddles and ran in 2wd and took WAY more fuel than mine. It sipped it running in 4wd.
So with that, I don't think I'll be getting a sand set-up...just gonna stay with the Carnivores!
Had some great dune runs and an epic one with a lot of the group in Saturday, lead by the guy who does our shirts (Doug). That guy can drive and picks such great lines. I counted I think 27 cars/sxs's and about 8 Dirt bikes.
Thanks to Cheff Rick, had fresh sushi (pic included) on Wednesday night, then ribs on Saturday night. Cool guy that just loves to do it. He makes stuff actually every night, but we always bring food and chipped in for Saturday nights feast. I go to hand him money and he laughs and says "I don't need that!"
I know, but I appreciate it so take it, here's $20 for dinner tonight. :lmao:
Fire time is always good, we don't do night rides anymore...but always hit Pad 4 for a Sunset ridge till the sun goes down.
Another group was having their Guys Trip the same weekend and in the same spot, Andy Chandler @TheChandlerCompound was there and got to meet him. His group was super cool!
We all kind of were camped together.
Pic of our shirts with an intentional cross out on the date since our trip was supposed to be March 8-12, then got swapped at the last moment. It actually worked out better for a lot of us.
On a side note and not to bring the mood down, Doug our fearless leader after a ride on Thursday or Friday, was headed back to camp and came across 2 sxs's, one that had crashed, Driver Desceased.
I don't know the particulars other than the driver was only wearing Lap belt, massive head trauma. Doug and the guys in his car had to help carry/drag the body as he was 350-400lbs to the recovery vehicle.
The 2 parties were from Michigan I believe and don't think had ever been here and weren't being guided by someone who knows Glamis!
It's a very sad deal and RIP to the driver.
You hear it almost every weekend about someone losing their life, it is sad so please be careful out there everyone!
