My wife & I went on a cruise with her sister & husband.  flew to seattle & cruised up to Alaska. (Seattle, Sitka, Juneau, Icy Straight Point (Hoonah), Ketchikan (ward cove), Victoria BC, Seattle).

Flights were Alaska air & were flawless, the boat had an issue with the WiFi which affected a bunch of the ship & made a number of things a mess.  we stood in the rain for 2.5 hours while they tried to get 4000+ folks onto the ship.  the ship was nice & had just about everything you could want.  our room was under one of the galleys, so that kind of sucked, but my wife wanted the cheap room so we got it..........  Did a good bit of walking & got some rain, some wind & some sun.

the 2 on the right & left are 45 ACP cases.

Awesome trip, Alaska is on the "list"

Very nice. Never done it by sea but sometimes think of doing it. One of our most enjoyed places to go. Driven twice and I highly recommend that as well.

We are looking to do this next year.  Any pointers you want to share?  The good bad and ugly.

I think it's on our list too. Peace

Awesome! We went in mid-July on Princess with 18 of us and had an amazing experience, can't recommend an Alaskan cruise enough!

I guess I should have put some more detail in there..........

this was my first commercial cruise.  I let my wife talk me into the cheapest inside cabin as it turns out was right under a galley.  we got to listen to footsteps & rolling carts all night.

the wifi was broken for most of the cruise, which hosed up appointments, reservations, on boarding, off boarding.  Except for the on boarding I didn't much care.  however getting a-hold of the other party that was with us was a bit more complicated.

The food was "OK".  however, we did not pay for the "super nice" restaurants, we ate @ the "free" ones.  My wife had a bunch of fish & was happy with it.

My biggest complaint was not enough time in ports.  Id like to spend 4 or 6 hours out hiking.  there just isn't enough time for that.  the place was beautiful & SO different than anywhere else Ive been I wanted to explore more.  the "hiking" was fun & we got to see a bunch of cool stuff.

also we threw this together kind of last minute.  I did not get enough time to do research & find other cool things to see, but with the time crunch, it might not have mattered.

would I do this again, probably not.  but a week or 10 days flying up, hiking, fishing, maybe camping, & stuff.  Yea, I would do that.  but for a taste, it was cool.  it was great to be away for a week.  it was cool hanging out with my in laws.  they are cool folks.  in 30+ years we have never done that.

FWIW, it was ~$3K for the whole trip (for both of us).

Awesome trip report, thank you! Quick question... How would kids factor into a trip like this? Recommended/Not recommended?
depends on the age of the kids.  they have a "kids zone" just for younger kids.  each kid gets a wifi enabled bracelet that they can track around the ship.  if they are super young, you can drop them off & pick them up later.  if they are older & would like to see the shows & stuff, they can see some of them.  there are a bunch of "no kid" zones, because of gambling, alcohol & smoking.  if they are old enough to go out & do the exploring, I would think it would be a great trip.  if they are not "out-doorsy" I could see it being a really crappy trip for kids.  age & ability are the 2 biggest factors here.
